The pain and challenges of living
with a chronic illness...
the God of All comfort is there to help us cope.
The God of All Comfort is based on the author's experience of living with chronic illness as well as that of seventeen other people who share their stories within the pages of this book. Illnesses include a variety of autoimmune system disorder, cancer, and Lou Gehrig's disease, as well well as several other chronic and serious illnesses. This book strives to help you recognize yourself in your straggles and feel less alone in your pain.
Each devotional issue illustrates God's involvement in the midst of pain.
These issues include:
Pain - Weakness - Identity - Loss of independence
Loneliness - Facing death

"There are four places to find comfort-on your knees to Jesus, in the Bible, in the arms of the Father, and by reading The God of All Comfort. You will draw genuine comfort from real people decimated by dealing with actual illness and disabilities, some like yours, some like mine. Drink in, inhale these devotions, and they will calm and soothe you like the balm of Gilead. Those in pain will keep this book close to their bedside."

Jeanne Zornes5 Stars Out Of 5November 25, 2005Jeanne ZornesBecause their problems are often not physically apparent, those with chronic illness are often misunderstood. But God understandsand thats the message that rings forth through Judy Ganns little book of comforting devotionals. Her illnesses have taught her patience and perseverance and about the God who never fails. Encourage a suffering friend with this book, after youve read it yourself to get a better understanding of the challenges that those with chronic illness face.
Bonnie Bruno5 Stars Out Of 5June 8, 2005Bonnie BrunoBased on the author's experience of living with an often debilitating chronic illness, The God of All Comfort is a cup of cold water and an arm around the shoulder for anyone who faces similar daily challenges. This collection of stories from Ms. Gann and seventeen others in similar straits is grouped into an attractive devotional format. Each devotion offers a two-page story, applicable Scripture, and an inspirational quote. It's just the right length for encouraging and uplifting those who suffer and those who strive to understand friends and loved ones who live under the shadow of an ongoing illness.Ms. Gann groups the devotions into eight categories:By God's DesignStrength for the JourneyThe Furnace of AfflictionThrough Deep WatersCourage in the DarknessSprings in the DesertRest for the WearyEyes Toward HeavenBecause a chronic illness often makes a person feel as though their identity is linked only to their illness, the author has taken great care to create a book that both soothes and strengthens. Those who may feel that nobody understands their struggles will find compassion, understanding, and hope. Above all, The God of All Comfort points readers to a heavenly Father who is present 24/7 to comfort and help sufferers to cope day by day, minute by minute.
Carmen Leal, http://www.thetwentythirdpsalm.com5 Stars Out Of 5June 6, 2005Carmen Leal, http://www.thetwentythirdpsalm.comGod of all Comfort is a wonderful devotional book for the millions of men and women who suffer from chronic illness. More than that, this is a book to be read by anyone who cares about hurting people. When someone suffers from a chronic illness theres often no visible evidence. Yes, Judy Gann has woven together stories, scriptures, and prayers into a lovely resource for those who suffer, but pastors, counselors, family, and friends also need to read this book so for an insiders look at the needs of those with chronic illness. Lucy Neeley Adams5 Stars Out Of 5June 5, 2005Lucy Neeley Adams"When we're sick and hurting, pain and fatigue scream for our attention", writes Judy Gann the author of THE GOD OF ALL COMFORT. Seventeen people are quoted in this book as they give great insights and new hope in the midst of their suffering. They give assurance that there is a way to overcome chronic illnesses. That hope is clearly evidenced in the 52 devotionals that open with Scripture and close with prayer. For those who do not have a chronic illness, but only an occasional headache, these devotionals overflow with a deeper understanding of those who suffer chronic illnesses and disabilities. Pain, whether big or small, can be touched with the healing touch of Jesus as we learn in each devotional. The concluding section, "Eyes Toward Heaven" speaks to everyone. Learning to live this temporary, earthly life in anticipation of our eternal and glorious heavenly home is what gives lasting peace. Praise God that He gives that peace and that this devotional book points to His power and loving comfort.
Jan Coates5 Stars Out Of 5May 24, 2005Jan CoatesThe God of all Comfort is the perfect gift for those who chronically suffer. Sometimes it is hard to know what to say to those who chronically suffer. For me, I'm often without the right words. Thanks to Judy Gann's The God of all Comfort, I can now give a book filled with devotions of hope and written with compassion, courage, and conviction. I recommend this gem to pastors, counselors, friends, family, and those who suffer.
