It was hard and we all learned a lot!
November 11, 2011
It took my 9 year old, me and my husband quite a while to finish this puzzle but it was worth it. You really do learn where some very obscure countries are at. You really should start with the edge pieces and water first because the country pieces are shaped like countries and do not interlock. I left it on the table for a few days and had my son take a part and put together a continent a day so that he could get to know the countries better. We will set it aside and do it again soon.
Good adult puzzle; not for children (maybe teenagers); China and Brazil are in many pieces without logical seperation; seaways are named which is nice; USA is not individual states -- no logic to grouping - should have done by region but isn't; Canada is by province though.
We did this puzzle as a family. It is a great learning tool and I look forward to having the kids (10 & 12) put it together alone in the future. The countries don't "click" together, so follow the instructions and do the outside border and the waters first then put in the countries, that way they will stay in place. We are a puzzle family, but it would have been difficult for the kids to do on their own right now. It was great fun and I believe a great learning tool.
Excellent learning tool. Most country pieces are the shape of the country. Smallest ones are sometimes combined, and largest ones are in multiple pieces. The details printed on the ocean pieces are an immense help in assembling the puzzle.
