Finally, an organizational book for women who have given up trying to be Martha Stewart but still desire some semblance of order in their lives.
Most organizational books are written by and for people who are naturally structured and orderly. For the woman who is more ADD than type A, the advice sounds terrific but seldom works. These women are looking for help that takes into account their free-spirited outlook while providing tips and tricks they can easily follow to live a more organized life.
Kathi Lipp, author of The Husband Project and other "project" books, is just the author to address this need. In her inimitable style, she offers
- easy and effective ways women can restore peace to their everyday lives
- simple and manageable long-term solutions for organizing any room in one's home (and keeping it that way)
- a realistic way to de-stress a busy schedule
- strategies for efficient shopping, meal preparation, cleaning, and more
Full of helpful tips and abundant good humor, The Get Yourself Organized Project is for those who want to spend their time living and enjoying life rather than organizing their sock drawer.
Kathi Lipp is a busy conference and retreat speaker, currently speaking each year to thousands of women throughout the United States. She is the author of The Husband Project and The Marriage Project and has had articles published in several magazines, including Today’s Christian Woman and Discipleship Journal. Kathi and her husband, Roger, live in California and are the parents of four teenagers and young adults.
In her characteristic style, Kathi Lipp makes you feel like you can get organized! If you want less mess and stress, follow the advice found in this book and enjoy the benefits of your saner life!”
Arlene Pellicane, author of 31 Days to a Happy Husband and 31 Days to a Younger You
I'm in awe of both The Get Yourself Organized Project and author Kathi Lipp. This is the most comprehensive but least scary book I've ever read about overhauling your life and getting it into an organized, manageable, doable form.”

But then, the same week I received a copy of Kathi's new book, my sweet husband lost his house keys three times. He could never remember the last really sensible place he left them.
His dresser was so covered in stuff, he couldn't see the keys. Ditto with his desk.
Then I looked over at my dresser. School projects, mother's day cards, a package of Pokemon trading cards that had been confiscated, a large eraser, a sock, and lots and lots of jewelry that I hadn't yet put back in my super-organized jewelry cabinet.
Later that day I was trying to fix dinner, but couldn't find enough work space because the counter was covered in vitamins, homework, receipts and bills, stray stickers, several band-aids, LEGOs and the cat brush. Eww. Why is that in my kitchen?!
The living room - pretty much the same. Shoes and socks especially are making like rabbits all over the house...they are multiplying in every room.
When did I get so un-organized?!
So I started reading...
Once again Kathi breaks challenging goals into bite-sized, achievable nibbles, each one sweetened with her authentic humor and personal stories. How can you not love Kathi? Whatever it is you're going through, she's been there.
By the end of Memorial Day weekend, my kitchen looked like a kitchen again, I have found the top of both our bedroom dressers, and well, the office...the office is a big hairy audacious goal that I now know how to take on.
If you have stress, and we all have stress, then you probably have a little mess in your lives, too. This book is well worth your time - Kathi's grace and humor make tackling the un-fun task of getting organized entertaining and fun.
Susy FloryNorthern CaliforniaAge: 45-54Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Martha Stewart, eat your heart out!May 23, 2012Susy FloryNorthern CaliforniaAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I'm in awe of both The Get Yourself Organized Project and author Kathi Lipp. This is the MOST comprehensive but LEAST scary book I've ever read about overhauling your life and getting it into an organized, manageable, doable form. Kathi covers it all in just 200 pages--from a warm and friendly pep talk at the beginning ("Eight Basic rules to Get Yourself Organized" and a "Quick-Start Guide") to projects for your home, family, and personal life. There's something for everyone. Need to organize your purse? Car? Closet? Done. Struggle with getting kids to do their chores? Got it. Looking for some tried and true ways to pack for trips? It's here. Meal planning and grocery shopping (two chores that are my nemesis)? Bingo. I love the way the book is organized into 21 separate projects so that you can tackle them in 21 weeks or even 21 days....or just pick and choose the organizing projects that you need. I'm going to start with the most cluttered area in my house--the garage (p. 105). It's a scary place full of spiders and dusty boxes but with Kathi's help and detailed, step-by-step instructions and supply list, I have the confidence and tools I need to get started...and then finish the job.
