The Geneva Bible, 1599 Edition, Hardcover
Great intro to the Geneva Bible
While one could get a facsimile, this Bible is easy on the eyes and gives one a glimpse of the reformers views with the notes they included with their Bible. Can't beat it for the price. This is my reader Geneva Bible. The bonded version rates a 5 star. I do have many facsimiles and they are also good. They don't have the notes sometimes big enough in the Facsimiles to do my eyes justice.

This Bible was exactly what was I wanted.
This Bible is not so easy to locate, and certainly not at this price. It arrived in perfect mint condition, and this Bible as great as it contains the Reformers' notes. If you're interested in this Bible, make sure you choose the Geneva Bible, 1599 Ed. with Reformer's notes. There are other editions out there, but unless you want a facsimile of the original w/o the Reformers' notes at a tremendous cost, this one is by far the best.

Love this bible
I have been thinking about geting a Geneva bible for a while but wasn't interested in having to deal with Old English. The modern typeface and spelling is great. The typeface is small (about 6 point I think) but I knew it would be when I bought it. The binding and printing are excellent. The printing is very crisp so I can actually read it fairly easily even though I prefer large print bibles. Also it was printed in the US so I think the consistency in printing and quality of binding is higher than if it was done in China. It is amazing to me how close this is in translation to the King James 1611 bible. The King James 1611 bibles are sold mostly as a novelty today but this Geneva bible can actually be used as a daily bible. I hope they come out with a large print version at some time in the future. I woudl recommend this bible to anyone looking for a word for word translation.

I am very pleased with this bible and am thankful that it is back in print. It is the English bible of the reformation and it's impact on western civilization is extensive. The version itself is faithful and translated from the faithful majority text. In many ways it is excellent but is surpassed by the authorized version in quality. The volume is of good quality, the forward the preface, the notes to the modern reader, the letter to the Christian reader are all helpful and interesting. On page xviii is 'How to take profit in reading of the holy Scriptures. I found this to be by far the most helpful and encouraging instruction that I have
ever read on this subject. In itself it is a thrill to read. Finally the marginal notes that had such profound influence on the people's understanding and application of the sacred word of God. They are worthy of the careful study of every Christian.
Physically the bible itself is good. I have the bonded leather version. I use it primarily as a reference so it will surely stand up to that. The only reason that I did not give it 5 stars is that the paper, while heavier than normal bible paper does bleed through quite easily when written upon. All in all I am very pleased and would and do recommend this bible, especially at this price.
