The Genesis Record

The Genesis Record is a scientific devotional commentary on the book of beginnings written by a creationist scientist. This book is written in the narrative rather than a verse-by-verse analysis form. In this work Morris guides the reader through the earth's early history showing his expertise in hydrology and geology so Scripture can be better understood. Dr. Morris writes from the conviction that the first eleven chapters of Genesis are as truly historical as the remaining thirty-nine. This conviction is not based simply on faith, but on many years of study of the scientific aspects of the Genesis record as well as the interchange of ideas with many other scientists and theologians (both creationists and evolutionists).

This book is very clear and easy to read. I have found it very interesting as a means to more deeply study the book of Genesis.

If you plan on teaching Genesis, then this resource is a must! All that the evolutionists propose is explained away through the scriptures. It is also very useful as a witnessing tool.

Dr. Morris has the finest commentary on Genesis that I have ever used. I believe if one start out with a sound understanding of the first book of the Bible, the doctrine of sin and why one needs a Savior is much easier to understand as well as the other doctrines.

As a Bible teacher for 35 years I have utilitized many commentaries. Dr. Morris has produced the finest in-depth commentary on the the most foundational book of the Bible that I have ever used. This is meat and not milk for Pastors, Staff, Teachers, and laymen.

Since Genesis lays the foundation of the Bible, a solid understanding is critical in order to defend our faith. I strongly recommend studying the book of Genesis with the help of this excellent book. It is an eye-opener and a must read in this age of humanism, Darwinism etc.

This commentary is a breath of fresh air on Genesis. Since so much criticism of Genesis has come from so-called "academic/scientific" sources, Dr. Morris' background plays an obvious welcome role in the writing of this book. The book does lack a bit of devotional content concerning the Person of Christ, but is a gem aside of that.

For any individual seeking a better understanding of the book of Genesis, look no farther. Not only is this commentary Biblically sound but, scientifically as well. Highly recommended for any Pastor , advanced lay-person, or just anyone desiring further depth into God's Word.
