M. A. Nelsons riveting novel The Flood invites you into a world where danger and darkness are swirling together and building rapidly as Noah, Sara, and their three sons and families seek to be faithful to Gods call upon their lives and respond faithfully.

While I loved the concept of the story set in "modern" times or maybe even set in the future or maybe a civilization thousands of years ago, either way this concept was good, but the story and characters lacked depth. The ending just sorta stopped with no real conclusion. I kept thinking there might be a sequel, but I haven't found one.
I didn't find much of God or Jesus or salvation within these pages.
The other item I need to mention is that this is only sold in hardback and it's only 176 pages, so you have to pay a hardback price for a very small book. I read this in a day. Not worth it in my mind.
F. Summers5 Stars Out Of 5March 23, 2009F. SummersThis book is not what I would normally read as my usual genre is medieval history. When I received this book I was reading one of the best histories I have read in the past ten years, but after reading the first chapter of The Flood I was hooked. I pulled me in and compelled me to read it all. By looking at the present day eroding of our social and morale values Mary Ann Nelson presents a realistic picture of what the future might look like. This is a must read for all those who care where society is heading. My only question is, when is a sequel coming out.
A & J Neish5 Stars Out Of 5March 16, 2009A & J NeishFrom the first page we were caught up in this amazing story of Noah & family in todays time. The details written & sometimes just under the surface keep your attention to the point of not wanting to put 'The Flood' down.MA Nelson is on the cutting edge of the news of the day, the details can't all be out of her imagination, can't wait for the sequel to come out. Thanks & PTL
L Neish5 Stars Out Of 5March 13, 2009L Neish"The Flood" is a captivating near-futuristic version of the Biblical Noah epic. However it it reaches beyond the re-telling of the story to highlight where our current values as a world society may take us, providing much food for thought. Best of all it provides heroes that are Chrisitan and ecologially responsible as well - which has not been well protrayed in other Christian literature. Besides bringing me to the edge of my seat, this story made me take a deeper look into how I am or am not living up to the values I espouse. I cannot wait for the next book in the series!

Tell us a little about yourself. I'm a former church administrator in Orange County, CA. Today I serve in a prayer counseling ministry in association with Red Oak Healing Center and I have a passion for small groups and interactive Bible studies, which I believe to be the heartbeat of every church. I am also a professional watercolorist with works in private collections nationwide.
What was your motivation behind this project? There are often instances where the stories of the Bible have become to some, merely historical facts. There is a generation that finds it difficult to see the current relevancy of many Old Testament stories and how those situations could translate into today's culture.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? My hope is that both non-believers as well as believers will find a new and vibrant way of perceiving the Bible stories and be able to place themselves in the events of the Bible because I have taken those stories and transported them into a time in the not too distant future.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? I am amazed by God's grace and majesty. If we ask how we can partner with God, He will show us wonders that we cannot imagine!
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? Max Lucado, Frank Peretti, Ted Dekker, to name a few. There are so many wonderful Christian authors and artists, it is difficult to pick only a few.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: When you read this book, just ask the Lord to show what He'd like you to see. Enjoy the fast pace, the excitement and the ideas that will move you to ponder your environment! Enjoy! Enjoy!
