The Final Summit is the story of David Ponder. Mankind has become so vile and dissolute that the end of the world is coming. He must find the way to help humanity get back on the right course. The answer is two words. Time is short and he must summon a "traveler", which is a person from history, to help him find the answer. He only gets five helpers.
This book is a continuation of the other books about David Ponder. He is a 74 year old man that has suffered through the loss and regain of everything he has. Lately however, his wife has passed away leading him to consider suicide.
Gabriel the archangel comes to him to tell him he is in charge of a summit to determine what humanity must do. He goes and with the help of the other travelers works to find a solution to the problem set in front of them.
"For I am but a Traveler upon this earth", wrote King David in Psalm 39:12.
In the spirit of its predecessor (New York Times best selling, The Traveler's Gift ) THE FINAL SUMMIT calls upon history, religion even some science as author, Andy Andrews, weaves a tale around David Ponder engaging us as we join David on a quest to find the one principle that will save humanity. This is the last chance as morals and character have crumbled and humanity spirals downward toward destruction.
After success and failure and success again, David has lost his beloved wife and sitting alone in his high rise. Opening his well worn tobacco pouch he recalls The Seven Decisions and how he encountered historical figures while gaining the tokens that are symbolic of these Decisions. It's been twenty-eight years since The Archangel Gabriel made an appearance to David but suddenly Gabriel shows up again and whisks him away to the place that never was, where Ponder encounters hundreds of other travelers and where historical figures like Joan of Arc, Winston Churchill, Abraham Lincoln, and others play an essential role in helping David find the answer to a question posed by Gabriel. Gabriel tells David Ponder that wisdom is the key and to use the accumulated wisdom of the past to determine earth's future. Ponder is chosen to lead the other Travelers in finding the solution to the question "what does humanity need to do, individually and collectively, to restore itself to the pathway toward successful civilization?" David has five attempts to give the correct solution, which requires just two words before the sands of time run out of the hourglass .Will Ponder and his fellow travelers be able to answer this question at The Final Summit?
