Author Ralph Milton gives us a fresh, contemporary collection of Bible stories for children and families, containing more than five hundred colorful illustrations, and featuring stories about women and men from throughout the Bible. Since it's publication in 1997 it has become a best-selling classic in family literature.
Craig & Debbie2 Stars Out Of 5August 25, 2007Craig & DebbieWhile this Bible story book retells many common and uncommon Bible storeis, there are three major drawbacks. First, the author takes liberty to add to and enhance many of the stories (while he admits to this on the appropriate pages, it is hard for children to understand the difference of story and truth). Additionally, the author mentions the word "sex" twice - once in the story of Hagar and once in the story of David & Bathsheba. Further, the author summarizes the book of Song of Songs, which while it is biblical, is not appropriate for children. These factors make this NOT a "family" story Bible. We do not recommend this story Bible for your family.
AHP5 Stars Out Of 5October 11, 2004AHPThis is the best Bible story book for children available. It has no equal no other childrens bible storybook comes close. Bible story books for children usually include a few familiar Bible stories. The Family Story Bible includes at least one story from every book or section of the Bible. Some often overlooked stories of Biblical women are included. The result is a sampling of the entire Bible for children, a more complete and theologically correct overview. The style of writing is engaging and appealing to children, pulling them into the stories. The illustrations are colorful and vibrant, and capture the essence of each story. The author has included a very helpful introduction for the adults who will be reading the book to children, along with some help notes at points in the book. The author, Ralph Milton, has written books for adults designed to introduce or apply the basics of the Christian faith. His efforts to do the same for children should be much appreciated by parents and those who teach children.
