Ravi Zacharias is President and Founder of Ravi Zacharias International Ministries (RZIM). Their global outreach grew from humble roots in 1984 and includes fielding a team of itinerant speakers who operate from offices located around the world including the U.S., the UK, Romania, the Middle East, India, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Canada. The Hallmark of Ravis heart is his strong evangelistic and apologetic that manifests itself from a position of compassion.
Although written to refute two particular books, The End of Reason makes immense sense whether youve read those books or not. The world seeks to bury Christian beliefs beneath a pile of condescending, noxious trash. This book helps us find the way out and stand proudly as we witness for our Lord. Zacharias shows exactly how illogical this non-moral, non-reasoning atheistic worldview is, how it uses extremely selective facts, and exactly how we can keep from falling for it, remaining proud and steadfast in our Christian worldview. In "The End of Reason" he presents an open letter to the American people in response to Sam Harris' poison-penned book, "Letter to a Christian Nation." Whereas Harris' sole intent was to destroy in proposing a world without God, Zacharias' desire is to rebuild and restore the validity and vitality of the Christian faith. This he does in biblical, philosophical, and scientific terms that rise above speculation and mere opinion. Although his arguments are heavy at times, he does not take us so deep into intellectual thought that the laymen is unable to understand what he has to say. The author's own rise to faith (Hinduism to Atheism to Christianity) well qualifies him to address the quest for the meaning to life. His own failed suicide attempt was used by the Lord to bring him to Christ. Therefore, he makes an impassioned plea for his readers to consider the hope to be found in his Savior as well. Zacharias argues that Harris and his fellow-atheists, in spite of their hollow shouting, will not win the day. Using Europe as a contemporary example, godless secularism even now is proving to be no match for another foe to biblical Christianity, the rise of radical Islam. Sounding eerily prophetic (this book was released in 2008), Zacharias writes, "In the end, America's choice will be between Islam and Jesus Christ. History will prove before long the truth of this contention." It is essential to remember that man has been created in the image of God and is, therefore, a moral being. The boisterous cries of modern atheism come from toothless lions. The more imminent threat to the Christian faith is already arising from a counterfeit religious system with a god who is the antithesis of the God of the Bible.
