I am so sad so many people are reading this book & stating it is the best book since the Bible.
I feel it is not biblical. In only the 2nd sentence in chapter 1 it reads "The Lord had grown quite weary..." He was weary? I do not think so! He is all powerful. He does not sleep. He DOES NOT become weary!
Then no farther into the book, in the first paragraph of page 4 it reads "He was searching for something..." I got the impression the author was indicating God wasn't sure what he wanted. He was "searching?" I don't think so. I do not find anywhere in the Bible in which it says God created us to make him complete or didn't know what to do; therefore, he created us! Are you kidding? He is complete in himself.
I was very, very disappointed this is even being sold as truth at CBD.

There aren't enough words to express how much this book has changed my life. I grew up in the Word and have been a Christian since the age of 9. Yet, Gene describes our creation and other areas of the Word in such a way that it all just makes even more sense. Talk about true 'light bulb' moments!! You can't go wrong with this book. Just be ready to give yourself some time to read it. It requires some time to digest all you read. Enjoy :)

Amazing. I read this for a premarriage weekend that my youth group went on, and I loved it. Everyone else did too. It's a beautiful story of God's love for us. 10 out of five stars. Two thumbs up, along with big toes.

I found this book neither poetic nor theologically sound. Its premise is that God needed to create man in order to fill a void in His life. God did not create man out of necessity but out of love. I'm disappointed that so many people have been encouraged by a book whose basis is not on the Bible's portrayal of Who God is but on a man's imagination of what I assume he wishes God would be.
