In response, professor and award-winning author Bruce Demarest has made plain God's glorious plan of salvation, his provision for the human dilemma through Christ's work on the cross, and the application of saving grace to unbelievers. Demarest's unique approach defines each topic, identifies its most pressing issues, examines the ways in which the doctrine has been understood historically, and interprets the Bible's revelation. The result is a clear and carefully constructed doctrinal statement that you can defend, live out, and communicate to others.
This singular, comprehensive treatment of one of Christianity's essential doctrines gives definitive, Bible-based answers about salvation and the cross---and about related theological issues such as grace and regeneration. It's perfect for clarifying your theology and gaining deep understanding of this foundational theme.

Ricardo RochaLas Vegas, NV5 Stars Out Of 5A tremendous book on SoteriologyApril 12, 2012Ricardo RochaLas Vegas, NVQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I was impressed by this book, I could not stop reading, each chapter addresses one element inside the doctrine of salvation. The exposition of the doctrine of election is enlightening, the presentation of the doctrine of the atonement makes you knee before God and the doctrine of justification results in a complete surrender to Him.
You have to read it!
Dan Saugstad5 Stars Out Of 5May 17, 2010Dan SaugstadThis book is awesome! Myself and a couple of friends are meeting on a weekly basis to review the chapter we read for the week. Everyone who has taken part has constantly praised this book for not only its theological content but it's readability. Demarest is of the Reformed bunch and time and again I find myself pleased as I line up almost 100% with his views. He keeps himself strictly to Soteriology even when addressing the topic of Israel and election so you won't find too much of the ecclisiological topics of the dispensational/covenantal views of Isreal and the church in the chapter on election. Demarest breaks each chapter up into VERY helpful categories. 1. Introductory Concerns (Current issues with the doctrine under consideration) 2. Historical Interpretation (From heretical - orthodox) very enlightening expositions of who held what and why 3. Exposition of the doctrine from scripture 4. Practical ImplicationsI cannot say enough, we are half way through right now and I have guys saying they couldn't put the book down even though we are reading 40-50 page chapters a week!I can only hope the rest of the series is as helpful, enlightening and enjoyable as this book is so far.
