Product Description

WINNER OF THE 2002 SILVER ANGEL AWARD! Best-selling author, columnist, and speaker Mike Nappa delivers a hard-hitting book about the courage it takes to walk with and follow Christ. It is easy to see from this insightful presentation of discipleship that the path to the Passion was not an easy choice for Christ and that the path we choose honoring the Passion is not an easy choice for us. Responsibility comes with the reward and conflict follows the commitment. You will be stirred and motivated by Nappa's challenging message, examination of a Christlike life, and his clearly defined conclusion about the courage that must accompany all who join this journey. This is the perfect book for those who have chosen the trail less traveled and truly desire to do what Jesus would do on this earth. Read this book and find yourself less fearful and more forceful. Every word and every page will bring you closer to God and instill courage in your heart of hearts.

Publisher's Weekly

Nappa (A Mind Like His and A Heart Like His) uses a commonplace seven-letter word courage to pack considerable punch on the subject of what is fundamentally necessary to live passionately for Christ. Nappa challenges Christians to pray, think and worship with hearts of courage. Rather than resort to overused solutions, Nappa's counsel fairly shouts with a rare freshness. He says that Christians whose faith has lost its passion should be courageous enough to admit guilty secrets and failings to others, then be accountable for their actions. Finally, they should make prayer the backbone of their existence by relying on the Holy Spirit's strength rather than fickle human stamina. Nappa's personal narratives frequently reveal his own struggles toward a consistent selfless heart while underscoring each Christian's desperate need for rejuvenation at the cross of Christ. This six-part text also discusses the personal cost of following Christ, how to put passion for Christ to work within the nitty-gritty of life, the paradoxical beauty of transformed weakness and failure, and the strength needed to continually press forward with heavenly vision and a resilient trust in God's faithful provision. Closing out this fine handbook is a chapter-by-chapter discussion and study guide written by Michael S. Warden, whose insightful questions complement the principles covered by Nappa. Readers will appreciate Nappa's tender heart, and his work will inspire both the wayward and the zealous to a more courageous, fearless Christian journey. (Mar.) I am reading this book along with my bible in my daily quiet times. This is one of those books you don't want to put down, but am trying to pace myself to one chapter a day so I can dwell and meditate on what I have read thru the day. It is filled with testimonies and stories of God's power that is available to us in our everyday life and witness. It will inspire you to be bold for Christ!

I agree 100% with the previous review. A must have to your spiritual well-being. Other authors should take a lesson.

When I was given this book, I was told to "hang-on" when I read it. They were right -- WOW! Talk about cutting to the chase and laying things on the table -- it was terrific. When I try to explain to friends my love for my home church, White's Ferry Road, one of the things I tell them is that our leaders/instructors/ministers really do a fabulous job of bringing the scriptures to life. The stories, explanations, and references that they use are so timely, so understandable, so applicable to everyday life -- that I find myself wanting more. That's how this book was for me -- Mike Nappa did an outstanding job of "talking" to me in the book -- not preaching at me -- but holding a genuine conversation with a heartfelt concern for my spiritual well-being. I was so impressed, I've visited his website: www.nappaland.com several times and have even corresponded with him via e-mail. This is one that you'll want to talk about with your spouse, your friends, etc. and ultimately bless someone else's life by sharing it with them.
