Liz and Tom Kelley are Christian newlyweds, set on making a difference in the world. They are blessed with a large home and large hearts. In an effort to serve God they open their home as a temporary living space for woman who need a place to live. Along comes Sarah Shoot, the daughter of one of Tom's employees.

Sarah is a troubled teen who has been threatening to run away with her boyfriend, Robert. Liz is hesitant to take her in. Sarah is quite a handful, and Liz had not intended their temporary housing to be filled with that much drama. Soon, Liz relents and welcomes the girl into the Kelley home, only to discover she's pregnant and her boyfriend is missing!

The Cost of Commitment is a story of modern people with modern problems. It is not always easy to witness, but through adversity, Liz finds the strength to offer support and Christian leadership to the troubled young Sarah. As Christians, we are frequently offered the chance to help others when we least expect it, but we must be willing to open our arms and bravely tread the path God has laid out for us.
