Beautiful Girlhood is such a sweet and innocent celebration of a girl's life inspiring girls and their moms as they begin to grow from girls to young women. The companion guide to Beautiful Girlhood is an added blessing to enhance the mother/daughter relationship as moms seek to encourage their daughters and teach them timeless values and character they so desire them to develop. The language is quaint and reminiscent of days gone by which adds to the charming appeal of the message. Biblical character and virtue are unchanging and so the themes of this book are timeless. The questions are thought provoking and provide a spring board for treasured conversation between moms and daughters. I highly recommend this guide to complement Beautiful Girlhood.

By itself Beautiful Girlhood is a great book to read with your daughter. It covers a variety of topics that a 9-12 year young lady will encounter during the years between young girlhood and adolescence; it really challenges a young lady to live in a godly manner, in spite of the whirling emotions and changes going on in her body. While a mom could just read and discuss the book with her daughter, Shelley NoonanÃ¢ÂÂs The Companion to Beautiful Girlhood makes the book much more meaningful and easier to use. After all, she has done all of the hard work for you! Not only does the guide offer thoughtful questions to discuss with your daughter after reading each chapter together, but it also contains a Ã¢ÂÂBible Activities and ApplicationÃ¢ÂÂ section. Shelley has compiled a list of Scripture that pertain to each topic and then asks thought provoking questions, encouraging girls to apply GodÃ¢ÂÂs Word to their lives. These activities could be done with Mom or as a quiet time activity for the daughter. Lastly, each chapter contains journal questions with space to write in the Companion Guide, making it a great keepsake for your daughter. Often times, other peopleÃ¢ÂÂs quotes are used to inspire girls to think and write more deeply on the subject at hand.

I personally am looking forward to using this Companion Guide with my daughters. While I may add to or change the discussion questions depending on their own bents and personalities, I am so thankful to have a tool to guide me through these important and life-changing discussions.

Beautiful Girlhood taught me a great deal about how to train my daughters how to experience excellence in girlhood; while the companion guide helped build a bridge between our teaching, devotion and application time. With the help of the guide, I have not only taken my devotion with God more seriously, but I am also able to teach my girls to do the same, starting at young ages. The questions we discuss are very thought provoking. We now have a plan for allowing God to shape our daughters' character in a very appealing and current way.

I found this book to be a wonderful resource for a mother/daughter study! Would definitely recommend to any mom who may not have received the guidance she longed for herself during those younger years, but wants to walk her daughter through the challenging voyage of adolecense.
