Jesus compared the church to "a city set on a hill"---inescapably visible. Why should our congregations settle for less? From the author of Raising a Modern-Day Knight comes a look at how to build "incarnational bridges" that connect churches with local communities, making them strong, well-traveled links between earth and heaven. 221 pages, softcover from Zondervan.
An inspiring description and story showing how a church can become an irresistible influence on its neighborhood, community, and world by building bridges over troubled waters to a dying culture through showing the love of God in action.

Lewis's book is beyond doubt a good read, it will inspire you with is plain language honest truth assessment of the church's performance in the dynamic of building community but don't expect to find too many pragmatic answers here though.

The author is a pastor with a defined gift of leadership and administration. The premise of the book is simple- the church must become involved in the community to be relevant. Social activism is the new hot button in the church. The book's failure is in clearly showing how the average small church pastor can put legs to it.

Kudos! If we in the church do not learn to "build bridges" to those who do not know Christ, how will they hear of Him! Dr. Lewis does an exceptional job of challenging believers to become spiritual architects...building relational bridges. Such a philosophy is so radical, it's actually Biblical!
