The basic part of this story (an elderly woman looking for something to do with her time reads children's stories on her own cable access show) is fine, but the surrounding stories aren't especially uplifting (commercial enterprises take advantage of the Story Lady; some of the other acts at the cable access company are questionable). It's not full of foul language or violence though. Not sure why CBD is carrying this movie; there's never any mention of the Christian message.
For the most part, this is a decent movie, but I planned to show it for a movie day at our church and I couldn't because of a few questionable scenes and one foul word at the end of the movie. I really was surprised Dove would recommend this with a bad word in it, and with some of the scantily clad ladies shown. If I would have know, I would not have purchased it. It's definitely not for every audience.
The first time we watched this movie, it seemed to start very slow. However, before we realized it we were drawn into the the story in the same way the children in the film were. That was during the age of VHS tapes so we were pleased to find it now on DVD. And don't be fooled by the name. This is a great film for anytime of year. What a wonderful story on giving back to kids and their mother. It is a heart warming story that shows how a "grandma" has plenty to offer and can meet the needs of children and their parents. Will be a Christmas tradition at our house from now on!
