Momof3North CarolinaAge: 45-54Gender: Female5 Stars Out Of 5The Christmas Story for ChildrenOctober 3, 2014Momof3North CarolinaAge: 45-54Gender: FemaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 4"The Christmas Story for Children," a picture book collaboratively written by Max Lucado, Randy Frazee, and Karen Davis Hill immediately draws readers into a journey. A journey of ordinary people God set aside for His extraordinary purposes.
This beautiful story begins with God's chosen, the Jewish people, and ribbons its way around Mary, Joseph, and the shepherds. Typical Christmas storybooks end shortly after the miraculous birth of Jesus Christ. However, "The Christmas Story for Children" gives more.
Midway through the book, it tells how God's exceptional Son lived an ordinary life as a child. Then, one day he left his ordinary life.
"He stepped into the world to do amazing and marvelous things in the name of God Almighty."
The second half of the book reveals Jesus' baptism experience at the Jordan River and how "the ordinary ended and the spectacular began."
This story stays true to the Holy Bible using the New International Reader's Version and the New Century Version.
Award-winning artist, Fausto Bianchi, provides exquisite full color illustrations for this 32-page picture book by Zonderkidz. The book is geared for children aged four to eight but older children and adults will find its beauty intriguing. Bianchi produces a fresh artistic perspective of the story. I found myself pondering a great deal over his illustrations, especially on the unusual facial expressions of his characters.
"The Christmas Story for Children" will make an exceptional gift with its beautiful story of truth and unique illustrations.

JennCanadaAge: 25-34Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5The Christmas Story for ChildrenSeptember 23, 2014JennCanadaAge: 25-34Gender: femaleI love when I get the opportunity to review Children's books because I am able to use them in my teaching as well as with my nieces and nephews. Max Lucado is an amazing author and well known for his "adult" books but over the past number of years he has been writing children's stories and they have been having an impact on children's and adults lives as much as his other books. I have used and loved his Hermie stories and when I saw this book come up I knew it was one I had to have.
This book is a companion to The Story for Children. This book talks about the events that happened leading up to the birth of Jesus. It explains it in terms children will understand and the pictures are beautiful and portray what Lucado and the other authors are trying to convey in the wording.
An awesome book that I will use for years to come! -

CrystalAge: 25-34Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5A good book, but a longer scope than expectedOctober 5, 2014CrystalAge: 25-34Gender: femaleThe Christmas Story for Children by Max Lucado, Randy Frazee, and Karen Davis Hill
I love nearly all of Max Lucado's children's books. The stories are beautiful, and the illustrations are always fantastic as well. This book is no exception. It is a great book! It gives some backstory, starting briefly with God's promise to the Jews, and then following through his fulfillment of that. It's a great book, written on the level of children. However, I wouldn't really call it the "christmas" story for children. This book is so much more than that. It is much deeper than just the Christmas story. As I said, it offers some backstory, and then the latter half of the book is about Jesus' life and ministry.
Overall, a great book with beautiful illustrations, and written in a way that children can understand and remember what they are learning.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher for review. I was not required to write a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
