Lori Copeland is a bestselling author whose books includde Now and Always, Simple Gifts, Unwrapping Christmas, and Monday Morning Faith, which was a finalist for the 2007 Christy Awards. Lori was inducted into the Springfield Writers Hall of Fame in 2000 and lives in the beautiful Ozarks with her husband and family.
She wants a lot out of life, including the right man in her life, a discovery of the true meaning of Christmas, and the resolution of some old hurts and painful memories in the small town she thinks of as her place of security. The rest of the characters are community members from the small town of Nativity, and they are easily likeable as well. The other central character, Jake Brisco, is appealing, but we never are presented with much back story about him, and except for the facts that he’s the right age for Roni to be interested in and he’s rather good looking, there isn’t anything distinctly original about him.
The plotline struggles with depth and originality as well. The story is about finding the true meaning of Christmas as it relates to forgiveness, optimism, brotherhood, and joy. No deep conflict occurs, and this causes the plot to lack narrative drive. The novella resolves itself nicely, but there is not enough dissonance in the story to need much more than a pat resolution.
The Christmas Lamp may shed light on the meaning of Christmas, but it illuminates angles that have already been presented. – Rachel Kiely, www.ChristianBookPreviews.com

This story will surely tug on your heart strings as it did mine.
Nativity is a small town close to being non-existent due to money woes. Will this town survive and thrive once again at the expense of losing the Christmas traditions that are near and dear to the people of Nativity?
As I became acquainted with each character in this book, my heart grew in fondness for each and every one. I asked myself a question, would I be as concerned with tradition as these folks were or would I push to set tradition aside in order to save my town?
This is one heartwarming story that you do not want to miss. I know Christmas has come and gone but I still enjoy a good Christmas read any time of the year.
I have read other books by author Lori Copeland and have enjoyed her novels. Don't miss out on this one!

I don't remember all the details about the story anymore, but do remember that I was left with a warm feeling and a smile on my face when I closed the book for the last time. I recommend it for adults and teens.
Ruth4 Stars Out Of 5Christmas versus business?October 28, 2012RuthQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4It's a story with good reminders what Christmas really is. The romance was a little off kilter - antagonism to full-fledged love at express train speed. Hand-holding and kissing aren't the best way to something precious and permanent. Slow, and more tentative physical contact and more heart and mind surety of their relationship would have been more realistic.
I liked the turn-around of attitudes of the people who ... don't want to spoil this.
All in all a story to read and think about!

I was disappointed with the plot. I only completed the book because I had started it and even when the book is lousy I will read it completely through. I would not recommend this one.
