It is unfortunate that the word "meditation" today conjures up New Age mysticism or self-contemplation. For the Puritans, it was the discipline of thinking deeply about God and His Word. To quote the author, meditation "is a holy exercise of the mind whereby we bring the truths of God to remembrance, and do seriously ponder upon them and apply them to ourselves."
