Good Bible survey for younger readers
March 28, 2014
I purchased this for my 8-year old daughter, who is a strong reader and has gone through the God and Me! series already. This book has gotten her into some books of the Bible that she might not otherwise read. It also stays away from the sometimes-forced scenarios of how to apply God's Word. Instead, it focuses on the actual lessons learned by the people in the Bible.
My daughter appreciates the various activities that invite readers to interact with the text a bit more. She has two complaints, however. First, there is not always enough space provided to write full answers to the questions. Second, and more persistent, is that it is very challenging to write in the book at all because it does not stay open on its own. I tried to force it open wide, but that has not helped. This book should be spiral-bound.
Overall, The Christian Girl's Guide to the Bible provides a good introductory survey of the Old and New Testaments.
