"An imaginative arrangement, preserving the on-going interest of a serial . . . The illustrations are excellent . . . and will hold the listener's eye if the book is being read aloud . . . This selection provides a built-in continuity which other collections lack."Church Times
"Written in a lively, easily understood style which still retains the dignity of the original . . . The luminous artwork is realistic, expressive and well-researched in detail."School Library Journal
"Many children's books retell Bible stories. This is one of the best for its factual, sensitive and imaginative approach. The stories are allowed to speak for themselves in a panorama of scripture from Genesis to Revelation, and each is beautifully and imaginatively illustrated. [Here is] storytelling par excellence, clear, uncomplicated, concise, superlative."Churchman
"The selections are just the right length . . . After using this book for several months, I can enthusiastically recommend it for families with young children."Christian Home and School
Thomas Antis4 Stars Out Of 5Exactly what I neededJune 4, 2012Thomas AntisQuality: 3Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I was looking for a book of Bible stories that my 8 and 9-year olds could read with mom and I. I wanted a comprehensive storybook and not one with a few or the most popular stories. I preferred one with good art. This edition fits the bill nicely. The stories are engaging and well written, and the copious art is nicely rendered and printed. Since we wanted a book to encourage the kid's reading and to reinforce their familiarity with Bible stories, we weren't overly concerned about some criticisms of doctrinal deviations we read about here. Our family studies the Bible itself, and this book is not intended to be instructional as much as devotional. We talk together and can clarify any points of doctrine that this book may throw into question. All in all, reading these stories as they are doesn't cause much conflict in our children's minds, and we don't see the need to nit pick.
My only criticism of the book itself is the cheap-ish binding. I would hope a book like this could be a keeper and passed down, but at the low price, I suppose it is all that could be expected.

Sarah Levasseur4 Stars Out Of 5February 19, 2010Sarah LevasseurI really like this Bible. It has some of the stories seldom found in children's Bibles. It's well-written, and the word choice is very good for a young elementary student.
