It is surprising that this book would wind up being sold at a so-called Christian book store. Thre is nothing Christian about it. Pity the poor soul that takes this drivel to heart- they would be clueless, as is the book itself.Bad stuff, steer clear of this.

This book is fascinating in just how breathtakingly bad it is. It was a book that one of my seminary classes recommended, and now as a pastor, I decided to give it a read. Half way through it, I considered throwing it in the garbage- but then I would have missed the mindless essay entitled "The Shaman says...Womanist reflection on pastoral care of African American Men."Much of this book is a rant against the 'dominant culture'; the chapter on the care of gay men is basically an attack on traditional Christian thinking- i.e. the 'dominant culture.'As a Presbyterian pastor who thinks that the gospel of Jesus Christ and all the power of the good news is not something that should be so easily dismissed, this book is basically an assault on Christianity wrapped up in the wafer thin guise of philosophy. May the Lord have mercy on its authors, editors and promoters.Oh well, I still have not thrown this book away however, I know some cold evenings are coming and this book will make good kindling.....
