It's there that he meets Paradise, a young woman who witnessed her father murder her family and barely escaped his hand. Diagnosed with schizophrenia, Paradise may also have an extrasensory gift: the ability to experience the final moments of a person's life when she touches the dead body.
In a desperate attempt to find the killer, Raines enlists Paradise's help. In an effort to win her trust, he befriends this strange young woman and begins to see in her qualities that most 'sane people' sorely lack. Gradually, he starts to question whether sanity resides outside the hospital walls...or inside.
As the Bride Collector picks up the pace-and volume-of his gruesome crucifixions, the case becomes even more personal to Raines when his friend and colleague, a beautiful young forensic psychologist, becomes the Bride Collector's next target.
The FBI believes that the killer plans to murder seven women. Can Paradise help before it's too late?
ChellebelleTrimble, MOAge: 45-54Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Could you share God's love in the midst of evil?January 23, 2015ChellebelleTrimble, MOAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4The continuous affirmation that God loves all of His children in the midst of a suspense thriller was an uplifting contrast to the serial killer's perversion of that love. It is true the main characters could have been written as more "Christian". However, I believe Mr. Dekker to have a seed planting style. He seeds the love of God through a book that will be read by non-Christians because it is not "preachy". I was also pleased that Mr. Dekker chose to write of those with mental challenges as processing the world differently and choosing those characters to be integral to identifying the killer.
The crime scenes are described in a "just the facts" way. Although I would not recommend this book for the young or tender at heart, those in the service fields (ED nursing, police, ems) would fine the descriptions tame compared to the reality that they deal with every day. I am grateful to God for those He has raised up with warrior hearts. To all of those, who by the strength of God, have chosen professions which fight evil head on, thank you and may God restore and bless you every day.

Nicole4RevivalSaginaw, MIAge: 45-54Gender: female1 Stars Out Of 5Disturbing & lacking in valueFebruary 9, 2014Nicole4RevivalSaginaw, MIAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 1Value: 1Meets Expectations: 1I read almost half of this book and had to throw it in the trash. The graphic details of murders committed by an insane individual were over the top. Although CBD was offering this book, I saw no relation to Christian faith, God's Word or anything that would have redeemed this dark, unprofitable storyline. There was no foul language, but that did not save this book. As believers, we should be careful about what we take into our minds--I saw absolutely no value in this book--I neither learned anything of value nor was I entertained in a fashion that was God-honoring or noble.
KaylaAge: Under 18Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Excellent BookMarch 19, 2012KaylaAge: Under 18Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5The Bride Collector was an excellent book to read. After the first 100 pages, it got really hard to put the book down. Ted Dekker did an amazing job putting the book together, it was a good christian thriller. I would recommend this book to anyone that likes thrillers. It also had a little bit of romance along the way which I admired.
