Return to the Bible as it was before chapters and verses. The Books of the Bible, NIV is a revolutionary new presentation of Scripture that strips away centuries of artificial formatting, leaving behind nothing but pure Bible text. The result is a hardcover Bible unlike any other available today—and more like the original Scriptures.
The Bible isn't a single book. It's a collection of many books that were written, preserved and gathered together so that they could be shared with new generations of readers. The Bible is an invitation to you to first view the world in a new way, and then to become an agent of the world's renewal. The Books of the Bible, NIV helps you have a more meaningful encounter with the sacred writings and to read with more understanding, without centuries of added formatting, so that you can take your place more readily within this story of new creation.
- Chapter and verse numbers have been removed from the text
- The books are presented according to the internal divisions that we believe their authors have indicated
- A single-column setting is used to present the text more clearly and naturally, and to avoid disrupting the intended line breaks in poetry
- Footnotes, section headings and any other additional materials have been removed from the pages of the sacred text
- Individual books that later tradition divided into two or more parts are put back together again.
- The books are arranged in an order that helps you understand the Bible more completely

W Smith5 Stars Out Of 5The Books of the BibleJuly 28, 2016W SmithQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5i was very pleasently surprised ( O K, excited ) upon reading the descrption for this title because i've looked for a Bible with this layout for YEARS but completely missed this one.
As one with A.D.D. and wanting to read the Scriptures without Distraction! NO verse numbers, NO Chapter numbers or Chapter Headings to Distract ones attention so that the flow of thought is much clearer.
I bought a hardback to mark emphasis points and a leather one to leave untouhed,

The books are grouped by author not by size. It is a great version to use to read through the Bible cover to cover!

MalleyAge: 55-65Gender: Female5 Stars Out Of 5So Easy to ReadJuly 9, 2015MalleyAge: 55-65Gender: FemaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5The Books of the Bible NT is such a pleasure to use; reading as an uninterrupted story. It's perfect for shared worship times and appeals to new readers as well as those well read in the Bible, because the books are arranged differently, giving a fresh new look to the story of the Bible. We bought one for our own use, then another 20 to give away. (The Books of the Bible whole Bible version is great as well.)
Alan SmiddyBenton, KYAge: 45-54Gender: Male5 Stars Out Of 5A New Flow to The WordFebruary 8, 2015Alan SmiddyBenton, KYAge: 45-54Gender: MaleQuality: 4Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Though I've just begun to read this edition I immediately noticed the difference this new formatting makes in reading the Scriptures, there's no stumbling, stuttering stops and starts, just a smooth flow to the Word that I've never experienced before. What does that mean overall? So far I'm only in Genesis but one thing that immediately fell into place for me was the connection of Shem, Noah's son, to the patriarch Abraham. I'd known of the connection before through footnotes but never from simply reading the scriptures themselves, before the connection got lost somehow in the jumble of verse numbers, the stacked up double columns style formatting and the confusing hyphenating of the proper names. With this edition there's none of that and this time, a scripture I've read dozens of times simply spelled out plainly the lineage that was there in plain sight all along. Yeah, I'm going to like reading this edition...A LOT!
I have the Leather-Look edition, its durable, the paper is plain but strong, the biding is good and for those worried of becoming "lost" there is still a reminder in fainter print at the bottom of each page telling the reader exactly where in a regular Bible you are, for example 1 Kings 14:3-14:21 tells you where the page begins and ends.
Q: What is the order of the books? I recently saw this bible at my local Christian bookstore, so I am somewhat interested in it's format. Reading the comments, they say that the books are not in the "normal" order. So what is that order?Thank you.
