Commentaries on each psalm or chapter were shorter than I anticipated. Yes, words and phrases were explained as to their meaning in the Hebrew and then a brief commentary. It is basically to the point. Perhaps the format was what Cornerstone Biblical Commentary wanted, rather than the more in-depth and personal approach of Futato's other books on the Psalms which I totally enjoyed.

One of the best commentaries available for Psalms/Proverbs for its size. It gives the key points in a concise manner without by-passing comments about key words and phrases. The outlines are well laid out. The commentary section after each section is very helpful as well.

It is a good tool to be used by pastors as well as others who seek to know the passages better.

I'm sad to have to give this commentary a poor review, but book reviews are supposed to be not just praise, but criticism if that is needed, right? This one is not worth the time; I couldn't read much of it. There isn't a huge amount of content seeing as the entire texts of Psalms and Proverbs is included. The commentary itself is a bit on the touchy-feely side for my taste. That said, the notes digging into the Hebrew are pretty good.
