This retelling of the life of Ruth was refreshing, after having viewed a less-than-stellar version previously. The movie was well-done. The storyline follows the details we have about Ruth in the Scriptures. As with any movie based on real life, some elements of the story involved literary license, but they did not detract from the core of the facts we have. Definitely moving and worthwhile.
I cannot list all the things that make this a disappointing movie. Just a few are: the script was poor; the characters were too "modern;" the setting/ scenery was too "modern;" the acting was not good; and everything else was substandard. I would not recommend it.
This story is one of my favorites and so I had high expectations watching it for the first time. It met and went beyond any other movies that I have watched on Ruth. I would highly reccomend this to anyone. It's perfect watching for families of any age, for women movies night, for teaching a Bible study, or for one of those times that you need a good cry and see a true happily ever after built by God. It was a delight and I'm glad that I have it in my home library to enjoy for years to come!
