Join Papa, Mama, Brother, Sister, and Honey Bear as they read favorite Bible stories together as a family and imagine what it would have been like to see Adam and Eve in the garden, watch Noah build the ark, and listen as Jesus tells a parable to the people. Told with words and pictures in the beloved Berenstain style, twenty-three Old and New Testament stories come alive for young readers.
Stan and Jan Berenstain introduced the first Berenstain Bear books in 1962. Mike Berenstain grew up watching his parents work together to write about and draw these lovable bears. Eventually he started drawing and writing about them too. Though Stan died in 2005, and Jan in 2012, Mike continues to create the delightful Bear adventures from the family home and studio in Pennsylvania, in an area that looks much like the sunny dirt road deep in Bear Country.
Bob2 Stars Out Of 5Content of the bookSeptember 21, 2014BobQuality: 2Value: 2Meets Expectations: 1I was very disappointed to see that the stories were taken from the NIV. This should have been included in the description. Many of us do not want our children taught a false message and the NIV hides the truth. Mary was not just a young woman; she was a virgin. As to the Old Testament, at least tell the true ending, such as Jonah. The results of Jonah's preaching was salvation. The story of Judas was sadly incomplete. I was looking for the salvation story but did not find it. Children's primary need is to know what salvation really is. This book tells some good stories, but many times that's the problem; good stories told to children many times make them believe that they are only "good stories", not truth.

LalaAge: 18-24Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Good Storybook Bible for Young Ones!August 2, 2014LalaAge: 18-24Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4I have absolutely loved this Storybook Bible and this has by far has been my son's favorite! It's the only one our family has read where he was fully interested throughout each chapter! There were plenty of times to point out different emotions, animals, and counting items/people/animals! Every page is bright and colorful with wonderful drawings!
However there is one huge complaint that I have and that is the story concerning Jesus' arrest and death. I felt that they did not accurately portray the real story of how Jesus got arrested concerning Judas. I know that they were trying to tell the story in a way that children can understand, but I felt they made inferences that could cause a child to misinterpret this part of the Gospel story. For some people this might not be an issue, but saying that Judas betrayed Jesus because he was angry and that Pilate hung Jesus because he didn't want him as king does not agree with me.
Now would I recommend this Storybook Bible? Yes, but with a hint of caution. I have found the authors to be Biblically accurate except what I explained in the paragraph above and otherwise feel they do a great job in explaining the Gospel!
I give The Berenstain Bears Storybook Bible a 4 out of 5 stars!

It begins with Papa getting ready to read a bedtime story to the cubs that reads "the cubs liked to imagine the Bible people being bears like themselves"..this intro could be read every time you read a story from this Bible. It ends with Papa saying a Bible story was the right choice! I love it!
momof3boysFairfax VAAge: 35-44Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5great bible story bookApril 26, 2013momof3boysFairfax VAAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4My son will rarely sit for Bible story books at home, but he loves the Berenstain Bears. This was a hit. He has enjoyed reading it often for very long periods of time. Pictures are quite funny to the adult reader, keeping the time entertaining. There are some inaccuracies, like God created Adam and Eve, apparently at the same time, then later it says He created Eve so Adam wouldn't be alone. Also it stretches a bit and Daniel was found in the lions den the next day petting the lions and "One of the lions was licking Daniel's hand." I guess if you want real accuracy, stick to good ol' King James, but for now, my 3 year old loves this and I can just skip a few words here and there.
