Down-home humor and an endearing cast of characters helped to make The Andy Giffith Show one of the most beloved comedies in the history of television. Widowed Andy Taylor (Andy Giffith) divides his time between raising his young son, Opie (Ron Howard), and his job as sheriff (and Justice of the Peace) of the sleepy North Carolina town, Mayberry. Andy and Opie live with Aunt Bee (Frances Bavier), who serves as a surrogate mother to both father and son. Andy's nervous cousin, Barney Fife (Don Knotts), is his deputy sheriff whose utter incompetence is tolerated because Mayberry is virtually crime-free. So wet your whistle, grab your fishing pole and take a trip back to Mayberry! This 4-DVD set includes the 32 original episodes from season one.

FarmFamAge: 25-34Gender: female3 Stars Out Of 5Not the Andy we know!April 16, 2012FarmFamAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 3Value: 5Meets Expectations: 3Well, I am sad I had to give this one 3 stars because our whole family loves Andy Griffith. Season 1 surprised me, though. Andy starts off his Mayberry days a bit different (the accent is slightly different too..) It's nothing HORRIBLE, but he's not as honest and a little more ornery. Our 4 and 6 year olds actually pointed out many "white" lies (good family discussion) in different situations-ones some people would say are harmless...anyway, I can't rate this one the same as other seasons we have seen, although the price is good and there still are some decent shows. We also noticed (although subtle) he slowly evolves into the character we are more familiar with as the season rolls on. Hope this helps! not sure if i would truly recommend this one-unless you are big fans and want the complete collection!
