Publisher's Description

Jonathan Steel is a demon hunter by trade, taking out demons with revenge as his motivator. The demons have taken away people he has loved, including the one woman who could have revealed his past to him. He has already defeated two demons, but he knows there are eleven more out there. If he does not go after them, they will come for him. Now saddled with protecting both his new partner and his mentor's nephew, Steel returns to Louisiana, where he must move into a house full of horrifying memories.

Meanwhile, Vivian Darbonne, a powerful demon who just lost her husband to Steel, embarks on a desperate search for a mysterious artifact called the Ark of the Demon Rose just as a new evil cult rises from the darkness and threatens to engulf the world in chaos. As seats of power are covertly altered within the government, Steel knows that in order to defeat the cult, he must first find an ancient chest that holds the secret to defeating the eleventh demon and, most importantly, power over the Council of Darkness.

In this third installment of the Jonathan Steel Chronicles, Jonathan Steel and his colleagues once again must attempt to stop a demonic foe before chaos is unleashed on the world!

This review was written for The 11th Demon: The Ark of Chaos.
The title of the book is the 11th Demon by Bruce Hennigan. This title is the third in a series which began with the 13th Demon, then the 12th Demon. The books are to be a series of 13 volumes, with each volume detailing the encounters of demon hunter Jonathan Steel and associates battling the ever increasingly potent demons.

The question of whether this work is fiction or reality really is a matter of perspective I guess. While the characters and attributes are fictional, the battle between dark and light, evil and good, is very real. The novel has a way of wriggling itself into one's imagination and beginning to help the reader "see" glimpses of the spiritual battles which Paul wrote about in the scriptures.

If the reader is familiar with the works of Frank Peretti, "This Present Darkness" and "Piercing the Darkness", or C.S. Lewis' "Screwtape Letters" they will find the works by Hennigan edgier, more compelling and far more intense. The 11th Demon does not need to be read after the first two, but I believe it might help. The author draws his reader into the story fairly quickly through recounting incidents in the previous book, setting the stage for this installment of the epic battle series which is being written.

Being a fan of Peretti and Lewis, I am curious as to how this series will progress. Hopefully, the author will keep things from becoming too similar in scope, and at the same time refraining from delving too far into darkness to reveal the power of the light. As for this book, I recommend reading it if you are a fan of suspense and mystery. Shy away though if you scare easily.

Bruce Hennigan in his new book, The 11th Demon: The Ark of Chaos Book Three in The Chronicles of Jonathan Steel series published by WestBow Press gives us another adventure with Jonathan Steel.

From the back cover: Jonathan Steel is a demon hunter by trade, taking out demons with revenge as his motivator. The demons have taken away people he has loved, including the one woman who could have revealed his past to him. Now, saddled with protecting both his new partner and his mentors nephew, Steel returns to Louisiana, where he must move into a house full of horrifying memories. Meanwhile, Vivian Darbonne, a powerful demon who just lost her husband to Steel, embarks on a desperate search for a mysterious artifact called the Ark of the Demon Rose, just as a new evil cult rises from the darkness and threatens to engulf the world in chaos. As seats of power are covertly altered within the government, Steel knows that to defeat the cult, he must first find an ancient chest that holds the secret to defeating the eleventh demonand most importantly, gain power over the Council of Darkness.

If you didnt read the previous two books in this series do not be concerned you can read this one as a stand-a-lone. However I do recommend that you go back and read the other two simply for the pure enjoyment of it. There is a lot going on here: Demons from the previous books are joining forces to defeat Jonathan. Jonathan still has a problem with his memory. Jonathan not only wants to defeat Vivian and stop her from getting the Ark but he wants to use its power to defeat the Council of Darkness. The mystery will keep you guessing and the suspense will keep you flipping pages as you strain to find out what happens next. Get all your chores out of the way before you sit down to read this book. You will want your cup of tea and peace and quiet as you spend the time hanging out with Jonathan Steel. You will be glad you did. I am glad I found this talented author and am already looking forward to the next book in this series.

This is the 3rd book in the Chronicles of Jonathan Steel series. I did not get a chance to read the first two, but after reading this one I am definitely going back and buying the first two. I am officially hooked. I am not sure how this series escaped my attention, but I am glad it's on my radar now. Who does not love a book chalked full of demon hunters, demon possessed people, love, chaos, murder, and secrets all wrapped up in a Christian theme blanket?

This book had it all for me. The characters are well developed, the story is engaging and filled with suspense, each page holds marvelous imagery and best of all there is more to come! A great plot that kept the story moving along that is plausible (depending upon your personal beliefs) and suspenseful right up till the end. Jonathan Steel, demon hunter, is the hero in this book. He risks life and limb to protect those he cares about while fulfilling his destiny to defeat the cult of the Council of Darkness. He leads you on a wonderful journey in search of a ancient chest that holds the power to defeating the eleventh demon and gives the holder control over the Council of Darkness. The book reads almost like a detective novel leaving you trying to look for clues and fit pieces together as you go. I adored the antagonists in the book. Chaos and Vivian is just two of the characters you want to see destroyed. They are both the epitome of evil and very well wrote. There is a great variety of discovery you get to do in this story that keeps your blood pumping and has you flipping through pages as fast as you can read.

I cannot recommend this book enough and cannot wait to get my hands on the first 2. Hopefully I will be all caught up before book 4 hits the shelves.
