Product Description

For over a century, Thayer's has been lauded as one of the best New Testament lexicons available for any student of New Testament Greek. This lexicon provides dictionary definitions for each word and relates each word to its New Testament usage and categorizes its nuances of meaning. It also offers exhaustive coverage of New Testament Greek words, as well as extensive quotation of extra-biblical word usage and background sources consulted and quoted. This lexicon is coded to Strong's for those with little or no Greek knowledge.

I believe this to be an excellent study tool, even for the novices. Use it along with your Strongs and you will gain deeper revelation into the Word.

This is a very complicated read, but is very helpful for anyone studying Greek. Thayer goes into textual criticism while keeping textual integrity. I recommend this book for any student.

It is exactly what it promised to be, we are taking classes in translating the Bible directly from the Greek.

It is not for nothing that Joseph H. Thayer's "Greek-English Lexicon of the New Testament" is a required text in Bible Colleges and Seminary studies of the New Testament. Its great erudition helps to open the precise meanings of words and phrases for those who wish to delve beneath the "Folk Theology" of much of the "Bible Teaching" being offered today. That Professors Strong and Thayer based their works on two slightly differing Manuscripts, opens up translation and interpretation of The Holy Scriptures to even deeper meanings, rather than to the expected confusion. I "Strongly" recommend this very comprehen-sive Lexiconic Dictionary to both the non-Greek speaking layman and their opposite, the well grounded Greek scholar and to all those that fall between the two extremes. Once again your truly fabulous savings brings this great work of erudition within the reach of almost anyone.

Be sure to order a Greek-English Interlinear New Testament that has corresponding numbers with each term for easy research. This Lexicon's numbers match those in Strong's Exhaustive Concordance too. What a blessing to a sinner from a holy God! Repent!

Even though this lexicon is not available in French, I followed the advice of our Greek teacher in the Pontifical Biblical Institute here in Rome, and ordered it. I will need it for all my life of a reader of the New Testament.

Excellent resource. Easier to read than other lexicons, yet still provides in-depth information that is so needed for proper exegesis. The lay out of Thayer's is that there is concentrated information under each word, so it is possible to quickly scan through the section without getting confused. The words are numbered according to Strong's system....so this lexicon would be a great resource for those who have a consistent use Strong's concordance. This lexicon is a classic and should be in the working library of all greek students.
