Publisher's Description

A small child discovers God’s presence in the world around him.

A boy’s simple question sparks a search for God. Prompted by his grandfather, he discovers God’s presence everywhere: in a powerful storm, in a friend’s help, and in his sister’s kindness. Then his grandfather shares another truth: God also can be found in our hearts, if we invite him in.

Filled with wonder, That’s Where God Is! teaches children ages 4 to 8 that God is always with them. Moving beyond simply telling about God, it gently guides children’s spiritual growth, showing them how to recognize God’s presence for themselves. With an introduction by Lee Strobel, it’s ideal for parents, grandparents, and teachers who want to deepen a young child’s walk with God.

Parent Letter

I’ll be honest: I get tears in my eyes when I read this tender little book about God. Oh, sure, it’s partly because this is such a touching story: A grandpa sends a child out on a mission to discover where God is. The boy not only finds evidence of God in everyday life, but he also takes the further step of inviting Him into his heart so God can be with him forever. When I see the innocence of a child encounter the loving presence of our Creator—well, I can’t help but get a little teary.

But that’s not the only reason I get emotional. You see, when my daughter was a toddler, she loved to climb into a chair and snuggle as my wife, Leslie, or I would read her a story. But I don’t recall many books about God. At the time, Leslie was agnostic, and I was an atheist.

Nevertheless, God’s love ended up touching our lives, and both Leslie and I became followers of Jesus. By His grace, our daughter Alison and her brother, Kyle, found faith too and have become strong and vibrant Christians. In fact, guess what Alison has done now? She and her husband, Dan, have created this very book! So today, Leslie and I can pull our little granddaughters onto our laps and read them this story of finding God in the nooks and crannies of daily life—and explain how they, too, can find eternal life through Him.

I know you’ll love to read this book to your own children and grandchildren. And when you close the cover, don’t let that be the last word. As the grandpa in the story says, “Keep your eyes open. I’m sure you’ll find God all over the place.” Together, may you and the children in your life joyfully embark on the everyday adventure of discovering God’s presence throughout His creation. - Lee Strobel

In the children's picture book That's Where God Is! by Dan and Ali Morrow, a young boy benefits from the guidance of his wise grandfather. During a regular weekend visit to his grandfather's house, the youngster asks where God is. Instead of answering the boy, the old man challenges his grandson to look carefully during the next week to see if he can discover "where God is." Sure enough, throughout the week the boy discovers that God is found in the company of good friends, in acts of kindness, in deeds of honesty, and in the beauty of nature.

Returning to Grandfather's house the following weekend, the boy tells of all the places he discovered where God resides. Grandfather says that God also needs to reside in the hearts of all people, but He cannot enter there unless invited. The little boy then asks God to forgive him of his sins and to live in his heart forever.

During the episodes in which the boy finds where God is dwelling, Bible verses are inserted on the pages as scriptural verification of what is being taught. At the end of the book there is a page that presents Psalm 139:1-10, which tells of God's closeness to his creations. Lee Strobel adds a closing message for parents on the book's final page.

The book's watercolor artwork is done in dark hues of purple, red, gold, and brown, making it dramatic and intense, but the kind and loving facial expressions of the grandfather and other characters in the story make the scenes inviting and kid friendly. – Dr. Dennis E. This book did an excellent job of tackling the question of where God is from the viewpoint of young readers without being preachy or overwrought. The artwork is what initially sold me, but combined with the simple, relatable storyline, flowing easily from one gentle moment to the next and culminating in joyful clarity, the book also truly moved me. The inclusion of Bible verses on facing pages to the main text is a nice touch for older children who can make those connections, and easy to skip over for storytelling purposes with the younger ones. The only thing I would remove is the intro by Stroebel; it's completely superfluous and strikes me as a bit self-indulgent, although his well-known name will help get the attention of a wider audience, which the book deserves.

This is a precious picture book written to help parents talk to their child about God. Where is God and how can I find him? This story starts out with a young boy sitting on his Grandpas lap asking him about God.His Grandpa discusses the topic of God and he challenges the boy to look for God this week and report back to him what he finds. The little boy is excited about this mission his Grandpa has him on. Hes earnestly starts his search of God. Where can he find him? Since his eyes have been opened to the possibilities through what his Grandpa says he finds the most amazing things.Im so excited about this series and how this topic is handled. This book is a great vehicle to have parents and children talk about big topics like God. Dan and Ali Morrow make is simple. I think thats what I loved most about this book plus I enjoyed the pictures too. I cant wait for the next book in this series. I was so thankful to receive a review copy of this book.

Thats Where God Is is a great example of how important grandparents are to their grandchildren. Now only to nurture and love them, but to also explore God with them. I really liked the fact that the grandpa didnt spoon-feed his grandson as to where God is. He allowed the boy to learn while searching out the answer for himself, while Im sure Grandpa was praying.Ali and Dans book shows the homey touch of the boys home with his mom, siblings, a cat, and a dog; the young boys outings; and natural, loving interactions at home. Along with the adventures of finding God, Scripture is used to back up what hes learning about God.The grandpa is attentive to his grandsons observations the following week, affirming him, and going on to reveal more about God and prayerHis desire for a personal relationship.Grandparents, take note. Though your children are gone and have families of their own, God can and will use you in the lives of your grandchildren if you allow yourself to be available. Something He delights in doing.Take heart if you dont have children or grandchildren, God can use you in the lives of neighborhood kids or anywhere He knows you are open to invest in our future generation. This book was provided to me by Audra of The B & B Media Group, Inc., for my honest review.

I am always excited to get my hands on a really great childrens book. This is one that every home should not be with out. I love the tenderness of the story. Even more though, I love the fact that the loving grandfather sent the child on a hunt for God. I was able to incorporate this into our home school bible time. Asking my children to go out and search for God in our yard. They came back and reported what they saw, bringing with them different items of nature a rock, a flower, a red/gold leaf. The older ones where then asked to report how God spoke to them through this object or what God revealed about himself through it. This book does a great job of showing that although God is everywhere his main desire is to be in the heart of each child he created. A wonderful and beautiful childrens story filled with tenderness and love. I am thrilled to have a copy.Thank you B&B Communications for this review copy.
