The Scriptures record the stories of three women who were touched by the Lord in intimate and life-changing encounters. In this 12-week women's Bible study, the author takes students through the experiences of Hagar in the wilderness, the woman at the well, and Hannah in prayer in God's temple. Women see how the Lord singled out certain individuals from the multitudes of needy souls He ministered to and revealed particular aspects of Himself in His dealings with each one. Kimmel, the wife of a pastor, draws from her years of experience in women's ministries to bring warm, personal insight to this rewarding study.
June Kimmels That I May Know Him is a Bible study for women, for use either individually or in a group setting. Just as the title states, it is a book about knowing the Lord better.
Twelve lessons on three matriarchs of the faith, provide four truths each for readers to contemplate and incorporate into daily life. Kimmel writes with unassuming wisdom--she does not preach at the reader, but sits down beside her to mine the gems of scripture together. Both a pastors wife and a pastors daughter, June Kimmel has been married for thirty years and has three children. Active in the Ladies Teaching Ladies classes, Kimmel clearly knows how to communicate with women.
Using hymns, fill-in-the-blanks, and charts to help uncover the truths of the Gospel, Kimmel also asks the reader to contemplate actions and implement new found truths. Personal stories punctuate the study but do not distract from the context.
Perhaps the thing I enjoyed most about this Bible study was its focus on the Lord. So many distractions plague busy moms and working women, that it is a great relief to have reminders to look up and see the glory of the Lord. This study is undiluted truth, and will encourage the hearts of readers. I highly recommend it for all women who long to know their Savior in a more personal way.
