Math 5 Extra Workbook & Answer Key
, this set includes four CD-ROMs that contain step-by-step audiovisual solutions to each homework and test problem. Topics covered include operations with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals, simple geometry concepts, units of measure, and percents. A digital gradebook grades answers as soon as they are entered and calculates percentages for each assignment. Though this CD-ROM set may technically be used without the workbook, students will then have to write out each problem; won't be able to work away from the computer; and won't receive the written summaries available in the textbook.
The new hybrid CD-ROMs feature multiple improvements, including:
Easy multiple user setup (built into program) An area where parents can access all of their students' gradebooks. An editable gradebook where you can reset a particular lesson(s) without having to uninstall and reinstall. Easy gradebook backup and/or transfer. Best Independent Math Program Hands Down!!
My kids and I love this program because it allows them to work independently and for me to oversee them. I know instantly whether or not they understood the daily lesson based on their grade and that gives me the opportunity to go back and help explain anything that was unclear. We are able to take this math with us when we travel which I love because we are on the go a lot! The grades are recorded and kept on the computer which is helpful because that is one less thing I have to worry about. It can be used with multiple children and is definitely worth the expense. For one price I have the fifth grade curriculum for all of my children. It's definitely behind the curve as far as the pace of information being presented compared to a curriculum like A Beka but I recommend testing your child before purchasing and getting the correct level for your child. There are no rules that say a fourth grader can't use Math 5 :) Since this program is about presenting new concepts and each lesson focuses on that more than review (I feel) I also purchased the Flash Master to drill the kids on their math facts. It has been an amazing resource! I also use Calculadder as a daily drilling tool. Basically math is learning facts and concepts. I insist that my kids memorize their facts (no counting on fingers) and we are continually and consistently drilling (this is the key) over all of our facts to keep us sharp. So far we've used Math 3, 4 and 5. It's so easy to get tossed around in the sea of curriculum but I recently heard a mom say, " When you find what works STOP looking!" We LOVE Teaching Textbooks!

Is it time for math yet?
My son can't wait to go off and do his math. He loves it! It's interactive and makes math time a joy! I love that I have this with having a younger one at home,w hen I need to spend more time with her, I can tell my son to go do his math and know that he'll be busy for about 35 min and I'll have time to work with her. He gets all his questions answered and always makes a 90% or better, so retention is great. Found the grade level to be off, so be sure and go to their website and get your child tested so you have the right level.

This math curriculum is AMAZING!!! My son with severe learning disabilities is able to use it with no problems because it uses both auditory & visual to teach each lesson & uses 'real life' examples. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the gradebook IT keeps! I buy this without the textbook/answer key as we never use them (saves about $20). My son loves that he can 're-wind' the instructor whenever he doesn't understand something. I love how independantly the student can work through it all...there is virtually no need for parental help! I can't say enough about it! It's worth the price, no doubt!!
