"Teaching Character Through Literature" is a guide to introduce your child to the world of children's literature. Books not only provide enjoyment, they also shape and influence our lives. The guide is organized according to Primary Readers, Grades Kindergarten -Third Grade and Intermediate Readers, Grades Fourth-Sixth Grade. The book lists are organized by author and title, with a synopsis of the book to assist the parent in choosing books. The books can be read by the parent with their child or the parent can use the guide as a tool to aid in selecting books for the child to read independently. For those parents who want to read the books with their child and desire to draw out the lessons from the text, the author has included study notes and comprehension questions for both Primary and Intermediate categories. Our family favorites from the Primary Readers list include, Good Night Moon, Stone Soup, The Valentine Bears, Miss Rumphius, The Courage of Sarah Noble, One Morning in Maine, The Boxcar Children, and The Matchlock Gun. The Emperor's New Clothes, The Snow Queen, The Steadfast Tin Soldier, Caddie Woodlawn, Caddie Woodlawn's Family, The Secret Garden, Charlotte's Web, The Trumpet of the Swan and Strawberry Girl are the family favorites among the Intermediate Readers list.
