I have not read the book but my bought a bunch of them for a youth retreat I did as prizes. WOW! My daughter started the book as soon as the retreat was over and didn't put it down unless she had to. LOVE IT! Going to get it for the school media center as well.
Taylor's Gift: A Courageous Story of Giving Life and Renewing Hope

I bought these as Christmas gifts: one for my sister, and one for her friend. This is the kind of story they like, so I am sure they will like them. Again, a nice Christmas gift for a good price. I am not that much of a reader, but I started reading it and liked it. Hope to be real careful reading it myself before I send it as a gift. But if it does get missed up, I know other friends who will enjoy it as "used" reading. Again, the price was right.
I enjoyed this book very much. When the unthinkable happens to their young daughter her parents are gracious enough to donate her organs which improved and saved the lives of five strangers. This book is extraordinarily inspiring and hopefully reminds all who read it why donating organs is so very important. It was also great to see how the family turned their loss into a crusade in which they honored their daughter by creating a foundation committed to promoting organ donation. The family is also able to connect with the recipients of their daughters organs. I believe if more people could see or hear first hand how recipients of their loved ones donated organs lives were saved or vastly improved from receiving these organs more people would consider organ donation than currently do. I hope this book helps others see what a selfless act organ donating is and they register to be organ donors themselves. If everyone registers to be donors prior to an unexpected injury/death it would make their families decision much easier during their time of shock/grief because they will already know your wishes so they don't have to try and contemplate what your wishes may have been in regards to organ donation, they would already know!! A MUST READ FOR EVERONE...THEN PASS IT ON TO THOSE YOU LOVE SO THEY CAN READ IT TOO!!
Inspiring. Everyone has their struggles, and this is beyond difficult, how Todd and Tara leaned on each other and God is a true testament to their faith and their family. I also have a new outlook on organ donation. What a positive way to show how important this option is when so many people have the complete wrong idea about it. I would highly recommend this for families, Bible Studies, Book Clubs, or just someone struggling with why things happen and how to question God and not walk away from Him!
Taylor's Gift is a raw, heart breaking look at grief in the face of loosing a teenage daughter, and making her life count for more than it could have in life. The journey of her parents and siblings is shown in its entirety, no hiding, no white-washing, just the bare bones of it. Definitely a hard read, well told, but heart breaking. This is not a read for the faint of heart, but one that needs to be read. Not everyone's journey will be like this, for sure no one will have the exact same experiences, but it deals very aptly with the facts and emotions. What made this even more memorable was that it is actually told from more than one point of view. First of all, both the mother and father tell their stories, both of the grief and then of decisions that needed to be made, the strengths and weaknesses of both parents, and then also of the recipients of the organ donations. I had not read or seen anything of this book before Julie Warkentin of Graf-Martin Communications offered it to me for a review, but I am thrilled to be posting a review on my blog.
