Editorial Reviews

"Action, intrigue and romance the way only Ronie Kendig can write it—this is an author who knows her stuff. With characters you can't help but love—and a canine you can't help but fall for—Talon is an intense ride punched with high-octane drama that will have you bolting through the pages in a single, sleepless night. Talon is Kendig at the top of her game. Whatever you do, do not miss this one.
-Tosca Lee, New York Times bestselling author of the Books of Mortals series

"Talon was a non-stop, heart-pounding adventure full of twists, turns, and romance. Every time I picked it up, I was transported to Talon and Aspen's world and felt every emotion that they experienced. It has a little bit of everything to capture the hearts of all readers!"
-Lisa Phillips, Founder/CEO of Retired Military Working Dog Assistance Organization

"Now I know why they label Ronie's novels 'Rapid Fire Fiction!' With inimitable style, this book hooks you from page one and machine-guns you to a satisfying finish. Bravo, Ronie!"
-Creston Mapes, bestselling author of Fear Has a Name

Talon is an action packed drama filled with twists and turns, unexpected plots, and a little bit of romance that grabs your attention and keeps it to the final pages of the book. It’s yet another great book by Ronie Kendig. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series, Beowulf.

Ronie Kendig hit another one out of the park. Ronie has once again created a series that keeps you on the edge of your seat rooting for our heroes both human and canine throughout the entire ride.

Kendig’s fans are in for a real treat with this second installment in the A Breed Apart Series. For those who have yet to pick up a book by this brilliant author, trust me, you won’t want to wait a moment longer. The pages in Talon are brimming with twists and one in particular is bound to thrill readers. There is no question, this novel has made my “Best of 2013” list.

Suspense, romance, action combine to make this a page-turner you won't be able to put down! The Christian theme is subtle and does not come across preachy and there are definitely not any "slow parts" in this book. This is an outstanding action packed thriller with a touch of romance. Non-stop action you won't want to miss!

Ms. Kendig is a true Military romance writer who lends her expertise to creating an exciting plot, filled with action and adventure. Her characters are heroes to be sure, they are engaging and realistic. What not to enjoy about a fast paced story. While, “Talon” is a Christian title, please do not let this slow you down or deter you from reading this amazing title. You will not regret the time to read this story.

Talon: Combat Tracking Team is a really exciting book, the second one in A Breed Apart trilogy. I am glad the books are connected and the main cast of characters are in all the books. I think this feature adds depth and layers to the series and draws the reader more deeply into each subsequent book.

The plot is intriguing and pulls the story along at a very fast pace. The characters generally fit their parts and I especially like the hero and heroine, Dane and Aspen. I enjoyed the slight romantic thread. I think it adds great tension to the story and is very realistic. The backstory woven into the novel takes it to a much higher plane than the average suspense novel, and gives Talon strength and complexity.

I had a slight bit of difficulty following the action and dialogue in a couple of places, but overall it is a top-notch read. If you like military, spy novels or novels that include dogs as main characters, I think you will enjoy this book.

My husband read the book and found it very interesting; he couldn't put it down. Of course he is a dog lover.

I don't often give up on a book, but I just couldn't get into this one. Not sure if the first one in the series would have helped any; I didn't get that one, but I gave up on this one.

"Her brother is missing, and her only chance of finding him lies with a combat dog that has lost his edge."

TalonAspen is sure her twin still lives - she would have known if he was dead. But her brother's tracking dog, Talon, suffers from P.T.S.D. and quivers at the slightest noise. She's about to go to her brother's last known location by herself, with Talon along hopefully to help and not to tuck tail under and hide. As she's readying for the trip, help appears from an unexpected quarter.

Dane Markoski, a puzzling and enigmatic military intelligence agent, also wants to find Austin - he's never lost an operative. He appears by "chance" to help Aspen, but he really only wants Talon - he'd never work with a woman. Should she trust the shadowy Dane? Is he friend - or foe? With them both putting misgivings aside, they finally join forces, but can be successful only if Talon can rise to his old state of competence.

Full of twists and turns, this tale of a tail will have you troubled one moment and touched the next. Talon, the second of three novels in Ronie Kendig's series on Military War Dogs, is as much a winner s the first, Trinity, was. Her third, Beowulf, will release soon. If you like action, adventure, romance, and most of all, dogs, you'll want to buy the series. Ronie is one of my fave authors and will become one of yours, too, I'm certain.

This is the second book in the series of War Dogs, and again, she has done a great job of showing how to write a clean story that people will be able to share with their teenagers. Great writing, great interest.
