It was a time of legend, when the last shadows of the mighty Roman conqueror faded from the captured Isle of Britain. While across a vast sea, bloody war shattered a peace that had flourished for two thousand years in the doomed kingdom of Atlantis.
Taliesin is the remarkable adventure of Charis, the Atlantean princess who escaped the terrible devastation of her homeland, and of the fabled seer and druid prince Taliesin, singer at the dawn of the age. It is the story of an incomparable love that joined two worlds amid the fires of chaos, and spawned the miracles of Merlin...and Arthur the king.
Stephen R. Lawhead is an internationally acclaimed author of mythic history and imaginative fiction. His works include Byzantium and the series The Pendragon Cycle, The Celtic Crusades, and The Song of Albion. Lawhead makes his home in Austria with his wife.
Thomas5 Stars Out Of 5July 25, 2010ThomasTaliesin was amazing. Lawhead is a remarkable author with an astounding imagination. Christianity and devout faith run like wildfire through the story. Very few modern authors capture the creative writing ability of the classics: Lawhead does it. This book is extremely well written. Although, Taliesin is filled with action, mystery, and suspense, overall, it is a grand romance. A romance that will the spawn the heroes of Arthur Pendragon and Myrddin Emrys. Taliesin is the climactic hero. He supersedes Arthur and Myrddin combined! Charis is endearing. She loves Taliesin with all her being. Reading and watching the developing love between them, and the scorn they give to the evil Morgian was thrilling. I don't know what "Zach" was talking about. This book was definitely one of his best (Paradise War was better). I loved it, and I hope all of his later books are just as good. Mr. Lawhead, I am an avid fan: I can' t wait to read The Skin Map.
zach thomas1 Stars Out Of 5July 16, 2010zach thomasI read Lawhead's book HOOD and liked it. Taliesen is a different story though. The writing style was awkward in places and at times I suffered boredom. THis is not a well written book. Read LEMorte D' Arthur instead, it's the original anyway and the best

Lawhead is a very detailed and expressive writer and he uses precise words to convey his exact meaning. The story is also captivating as well as a page turner and i would recommend it to anyone who enjoys Tolkien, Lewis, Bryan Davis and other writers of adventure! You won't be disapointed.
The Masked Reviewer5 Stars Out Of 5February 23, 2002The Masked ReviewerA very good book from a very good writer. However, I would advise anyone who plans to read this series to first read Lawhead's "The Song of Albion." This is kind of like "Introductory Celtic" and unless you already know all about Celtic customs, language, etc, the reading of Taliesin and the rest of the series may go smoother if you read Albion first.Taliesin is a little slow, but such is the way of an epic. Once you get past the first couple of chapters, you will be drawn in to another place, another time long ago. A time of signs, and wonders, of Atlantis now lost forever. A time of druids and evil power. And a time of the Great Light, the Eternal God.Like my soliloquy, the book takes quite a while to get to the Christian part. If someone was reading this who didn't know Stephen Lawhead, and didn't get it from CBD or a Christian Bookstore, it'd take him a long time to realize it's even a Christian book. Still, though, it is a Christian book, and a very good one. I recommend it to all fans of fantasy, medieval, Celtic, Stephen Lawhead, and Arthurian legend. And if you aren't a fan of any of those things, I recommend you read it anyway. You just might become a fan!
