Celebrate God's Bounty
Every man should eat and drink and enjoy the good of all his laborâ·it is the gift of God. Ecclesiastes 3:12
God intends for us to enjoy his blessings in abundance. Come to the Table is a threefold feast: For the body, we have hearty and delectable recipes. For the mind, there are thought-provoking quotations from great poets and thinkers. And for the spirit, stunning photographs and inspirational Scriptures transport you to another realm.
I so thoroughly enjoyed this book it took me a long time to get to cooking with the recipes. Each photo and narrative encourages thought, relaxation, prayer. And then I had to let other people enjoy it. Now that I am using the recipes, I find them easy to follow, enjoyable to eat, and exactly right for the feasts they represent. The number served from each recipe varies from 2 to 22 but each recipe is easily enlarged or reduced. Parmesan Grits Casserole turned into a mouth watering breakfast reminiscent of Italy and Polenta. Combining several of this books sections, we feasted on Grilled Chicken Pasta Salad, (redolent with herb s and vegetables), and Orange Cranberry Bread, followed by cool, satisfying Minted Fruit and Cinnamon Crisp Cookies.
This is a delightful, useful book with a wealth of enjoyment for yourself or as a gift. And the reader does not need to be a cook. If you are trying to think of a gift for a non-Christian, here it is - Come To The Table is so enjoyable the wealth of witnessing material just slips into the mind easily and cozies down to stay there for a long time. -- Donna Eggett, www.ChristianBookPreviews.com
Patricia Chadwick5 Stars Out Of 5December 8, 2008Patricia ChadwickI almost never like this sort of book. Usually books like this are too cute and sugary-sweet for my tastes. But "Come to the Table" is a wonderful surprise! The layout and photos are elegant. The recipes are truly inviting. The Christian touches (Bible verses, quotations, etc.) are well-done and very appropriate. This is a fine book. I'm planning on giving several of these as Christmas presents. On top of all this, book is priced very reasonably for the quality of the photos and printing.
