Celebrate God's Bounty

Every man should eat and drink and enjoy the good of all his labor?it is the gift of God. Ecclesiastes 3:12

God intends for us to enjoy his blessings in abundance. Come to the Table is a threefold feast: For the body, we have hearty and delectable recipes. For the mind, there are thought-provoking quotations from great poets and thinkers. And for the spirit, stunning photographs and inspirational Scriptures transport you to another realm.

Come follow this Path of Celebration which “…drips with abundance” (Ps. 65:11). Herein you will find the visual and gustatory inspiration for joyous, everyday family and friend galas, all happily based on the myriad of gifts of our God. Quotes and bon-mots from noted Christians and apt Bible verses adeptly illuminate Come To The Table. Amply illustrated with colorful, evocative, full-page photos this recipe/devotional/coffee table book begins with breakfast then branches widely into many intriguing repasts: parties and picnics; dinners of all sorts; family gatherings; seafood; small morsels; and closing with a centuries-spanning set of table prayers.

I so thoroughly enjoyed this book it took me a long time to get to cooking with the recipes. Each photo and narrative encourages thought, relaxation, prayer. And then I had to let other people enjoy it. Now that I am using the recipes, I find them easy to follow, enjoyable to eat, and exactly right for the feasts they represent. The number served from each recipe varies from 2 to 22 but each recipe is easily enlarged or reduced. Parmesan Grits Casserole turned into a mouth watering breakfast reminiscent of Italy and Polenta. Combining several of this books sections, we feasted on Grilled Chicken Pasta Salad, (redolent with herb s and vegetables), and Orange Cranberry Bread, followed by cool, satisfying Minted Fruit and Cinnamon Crisp Cookies.

This is a delightful, useful book with a wealth of enjoyment for yourself or as a gift. And the reader does not need to be a cook. If you are trying to think of a gift for a non-Christian, here it is - Come To The Table is so enjoyable the wealth of witnessing material just slips into the mind easily and cozies down to stay there for a long time. -- Donna Eggett, www.ChristianBookPreviews.com
