Okay. So I see the mistakes in the books I read, but do I hafta hear 'em in the books I listen to? I just finished listening to two audio books by Evan Angler: "Swipe" and "Sneak". The reader was pretty good--animated, distinct voices (even if some were annoying), but he had the most bizarre mispronunciations! He pronounced "chagrin" as "chargin", "myriad" as "myrad", "waning" as "wanning", and my favorite from "Sneak": a "clapboard" house was a "clipboard." Couldn't he hear himself? And aren't there copyeditors for audio? I have listened to dozens and dozens of audio books, and these are the first ones where I kept hearing mistakes.

On the plus side, the story itself kept me engaged, so I kept listening. I wouldn't compare it to "Hunger Games," as those comparisons almost always disappoint me. Fortunately, I was unaware of that comparison, so I was able to listen to the books on their own merit without unrealistic expectations to trip me up. Indeed, I kept listening when I really should have been doing something else! Good storytelling, Mr. Angler, and good reading Mr. Narrator--most of the time.
