Great Message for Kids
January 18, 2014
Sal is a Portuguese Water Dog who has never won a thing, unlike all her friends. But instead of getting angry or giving up, she believes in herself, takes her mother's encouragement and works hard to be the best swimmer she can be.
The book is filled with positive messages: believe in yourself no matter what others might say, listen to your parents, persevere; don't give up, don't get angry at a situation or problem, instead come up with a plan and stick to it, practice when things are difficult.
Reading level would be around 2nd or 3rd grade, probably about an L or M on the Fountas and Pinnell GRL scale.
No mention of God or Jesus, so any school library could have this on the shelf without worry of the ACLU or other anti-Christians causing problems.
