Surrender the Wind is the story of Seth Braxton, a patriot of the American Revolution, who unexpectedly inherits his loyalist grandfathers estate in England. Seth is torn between the land he fought for and the prospect of reuniting with his sister Caroline, who was a motherless child taken to England at the onset of the war.

Sheila KnoxManitoba, CanadaAge: 35-44Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Has romance and mystery.September 28, 2012Sheila KnoxManitoba, CanadaAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 4Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I couldn't put it down. I had to read the whole book. It has romance (not too much to make you gag), suspense and mystery and faith is interwoven a bit. No violence and no swearing. If you're looking for a bit of a getaway with a romantic story laced with excitement, mystery and intrigue, this might be the book for you. It was a great price. There's no real moral or change in the characters or anything to change your life, just a good book when you want to escape reality for a bit. Pretty good story.
MommaBearKYGender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Great story!July 27, 2011MommaBearKYGender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This book was my first e-book and the only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 was that I wasn't crazy about the reader that you download to your PC if you want to read the book when you aren't online. The online reader is easier to move around in.
I enjoyed the story very much. Adventurous Christian Romance is my favorite genre: I love to read stories with historical settings and greatly prefer it when the romantic parts are tastefully done (but you still understand the true emotions the characters are feeling). The characters were believable and I enjoyed seeing how God used the bad circumstances that come into each of our lives and was able to make things work out for the best.

has just that. It had a happy ending, better than I dared
wish for. All things are possible with God if only we can
believe and put our faith and trust in Him.
Christine LindsayBritish Columbia, CanadaAge: 45-54Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5May 7, 2010Christine LindsayBritish Columbia, CanadaAge: 45-54Gender: female'Surrender the Wind' grabbed me within the first few pages. It's a fast-paced, Georgian romance, steeped in history that had me comparing it to my favorites by Jane Austen or the Bronte sisters. It also has a hint of gothic, reminding me of the old mystery classics by Victoria Holtcreaky carriages rumbling along an English countryside dripping with fog, candlelight flickering against mullioned windows, a quill pen scratching against parchment. The author, Rita Gerlach, immediately swept me away from US soil to the misty isle of England where her hero, the American Revolutionary patriot, Seth Braxton, seeks to reunite with his sister Caroline. Seth wants nothing to do with his English roots, unlike his sister, so returning to the British Isles goes against his hearts desire. Then Seth meets the beautiful Juleah, and love begins to flower. In addition, danger and betrayal wait for Seth in his ancestral manor. Someone who keeps his presence and identity well-hidden also doesnt want Seth to return and take up the reins of his legacy. Carolines little son is kidnapped and Seth sets out to rescue his nephew. But Seths faith wavers at times in the face of sinister plots of abduction and murder, and Juleah helps to strengthen his faith in God.This is a great book to while away a summer day under a shady tree or on a wintry day with the rain slashing against your windows as you curl up on the couch. It is a book of around 300 pages that I would not hesitate to give to my young niece of 13, my friend of 30, or my mother at 73 years of age. It has no jarring or grotesque images to disturb, but it does have plenty of action, suspense, beautiful description, romance, and is inspirational.
Carman Boley4 Stars Out Of 5December 3, 2009Carman BoleySeth Braxton is a hero that will sacrifice what he wants for what is best for the one he loves. Juleah is a sweet character, but one who will also stand up for what she believes in, and isnt afraid to speak her mind. I really liked both of these characters. I loved how Rita made all the characters in some way related, and when they first met they had no idea the impact they would have on each others life. I love when you meet someone, and then you go on and never realize who they were or the major part they would one day play in your own life. There was one of those characters that I dislike very much. A pompous person who is somewhat in charge, but wont listen to reason even though they are wrong. But, he was taken care of in the end. I liked how everything turned out (I cant say what I want to because of spoilers!) and thought that it was well resolved. The epilogue was great too! I love epilogues because they seem to finish off the characters story line, without having to read the whole rest of their lives.
