I hate to be the naysayer, but I didn't enjoy this book. It was on a very dark subject. I believe any Christian should know about poverty and the problems faced by the poor. They were even worse when this book took place. I just hope to choose books that are lighthearted and uplifting.

I didn't care for the characters in the book. I didn't see anything in Cici's personality that would cause a Christian man to fall in love with her. Even though she changed toward the end, I got the impression that the change was shallow and still lacked any solid commitment. We are told she became a Christian but weren't given any information to show that. The change seemed sudden. Up until almost the end, she was still going her own way and enjoying the "fun" that she knew was wrong.

Jimmy seemed weak and indecisive in his future goals and was easily swayed by Cici-- a girl he loved but who wasn't a Christian and who wanted to lure him away from the work God chose for him.

The writing was good but not good enough to make up for the story.

Cici, being the daughter of a pastor, had lots to learn about the reality of God's Word. She seemed to get her way until she met up with the wrong crowd, and then tried to hid that from her friends and family.

She has love at first site, but still has some "growing up to do" with telling the truth.

Was glad to see her finally listening to what God had to teach her.
