Author Bio

Connie was born in Oxford, Ohio to Christian parents who pastored a Full Gospel church. She earned a B.A. degree in English and an M.A. degree in secondary education from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Connie taught high school English for thirty-three years, retiring in 2009. Connie and her husband Wade Urban have ministered as the Lord has led over the years. They have pastored, evangelized, taught, and mentored. They now publish a monthly newsletter, write books, speak at retreats and churches, conduct workshops, and minister fluently in the gifts of Holy Spirit with signs and wonders following. Connie’s goal is to be about the Father's business.

A good study tool If you are looking for a study on the book of Nehemiah this is the one. The journey of our christian walk from salvation to our God ordained destiny is hidden in scripture. Beginning at the fish gate where we first receive salvation through to our God ordained destiny at the final gate. In this study Connie reveals to us the depths of scripture, original meanings of words and names reminding us that God does nothing by chance and that the challenges and trials life brings us; if we choose to allow them; bring us ever closer to our Lord and his purpose for our lives. This book has left me hungry to discover more of what has been hidden in scripture for us to find. I was given this book by Destiny Image publishing in return for an honest review. May 10, 2012

An excellent guide to the Christian life This book is an excellent handbook to the christian life, if you can afford only one book on the Christian life buy this one. We are introduced to the teaching of GodÃ¢ÂÂs word in a very direct and understandable way, we are constantly reminded also that the christian life is the Spirit empowered life. Her illustrations are also testimonies to the grace of God at work in her and through her. The first chapter lays the foundation for the rest of the book by showing that our Salvation is all through what Christ has done for us and how we are to respond to this grace by loving God. The second chapter shows how witnessing to godÃ¢ÂÂs love to us is an indispensable part of the Christian life and is an overspill from the grace received at salvation. The third chapter challenges us to be deeply rooted in the Word of God and to grow in our faith and love for God. She rightly calls this going deeper with God. In chapter four, we encounter very helpful teaching about the trials we will endure, the book is worth buying for this chapter alone. So often we wonder about the trials and tribulations of life and wonder if God has abandoned us but Connie show how God uses trials to build our character. Chapter five shows how God goes about refining our character by his word and Spirit and lifes experiences. Chapter six contains vital teaching about being filled with the Holy Spirit and the place of the gifts of the Holy Spirit in our lives. This chapter with its clear teaching and testimonies will help anyone with questions about the Spirit filled life. Chapter seven brings to the importance of devouring the Word of God, once again we see the balance in her teaching between Word and Spirit. We are reminded of the authority of GodÃ¢ÂÂs word as the source of all good teaching and the bar against which we check all teachings and experiences. chapter eight reminds us that we are in a spiritual battle and that we are called to fight in this battle for the glory of God and for the blessing of our fellow human beings. Chapter nine is about the importance of worship, our God deserves all the honour and praise and we are given much helpful teaching on how to foster worship in our daily lives. Chapter Ten reminds us that we have a destiny that is unique for each one of us, this chapter reminds us that we are unique and precious to God and because of this GodÃ¢ÂÂs plans for us are good. In summary then this is an excellent resource for the Christian as they live out the life of discipleship. Get this book and be blessed. Journey Through the Gates and Find Your Destiny What a rich book and study on our journey towards intimacy with God. You will no doubt be blessed and receive a deeper understanding of your Christian walk as you study each gate. As I progressed through the book, I became increasingly excited over what God has been shaping in my own life. IsnÃ¢ÂÂt it wonderful that we have a Shepherd that wants us just as we are and will work with us, as the potter does, to shape us into and prepare us for our destinies in Him? We are all at different levels in our walks, but the Lord never condemns or points us out as Ã¢ÂÂlessÃ¢ÂÂ than any other. He woos us to continue our walk with Him, keeping our focus on Him, seeking Him for more, growing through each gate. And each gate brings with it a milestone or pillar, a memorial and testimony of GodÃ¢ÂÂs hand and presence in our life. I (now) love looking through a new lens of Ã¢ÂÂgetting to do difficult seasons,Ã¢ÂÂ walking through valleys, that if we grow to lean on the Lord, actually strengthen and mature us. And if we allow God to do the work needed in us, a work which can be so difficult at times, we can then be prepared to withstand the heat of the next battle and next level. I am eager for God to cleanse me all the more, knowing that He makes allowances for mistakes I make, as Connie points out, along my journey. HeÃ¢ÂÂs not saying I need to get saved again when I do make a mistake! The sanctification process is just that, a process. God knows how to modify us without devastating us, and mature Christians allow God to do the work in others. We canÃ¢ÂÂt force or expect others to look like us. I love what Connie said, Ã¢ÂÂWe shouldnÃ¢ÂÂt fret about changing until weÃ¢ÂÂre mature enough in Him that this process is a natural extension of our growth.Ã¢ÂÂ That is a good word! God sees who we really are, knows who He has made us to be, has made gates for us to progress through as we mature into that person. Holy Spirit is the greatest teacher and counselor along the way, and His timing is perfect. You are already victorious because of the sacrifice Jesus made for you! But donÃ¢ÂÂt quit the journey, it draws us closer to God and along the way, our experience of Him and His glory gets bigger and brighter. Connie beautifully writes of the restoration power of God in our lives in relation to the rebuilding and restoration of the gates in Nehemiah. As you read this book, I encourage you to embrace the revelatory insights of the gates. Just as Nehemiah's obedience and determination brought forth the restoration and the building of the gates, our heavenly Father longs for us to come to the gates with obedient hearts for the restoration of our lives. There is a plan, a blue print for our lives that God wants to construct in Him. As believers it is important for us to go through the gates. As we do, we develop a maturity in Christ and a better understanding of our life in Him. Through Him our lives are rebuilt and restored. Pass through the gates and enter into His glory to your final destination in Him. He is the Way! I highly recommend this book. I was given this book by Destiny Image in exchange for an honest review.
