Publisher's Description

Shari Rusch was a learning-disabled child afflicted with brain damage at birth. Legally blind in one eye and challenged by motor coordination problems, health issues, a speech impediment, ADHD, dyslexia, and family issues, all the tests foretold a mediocre future at best. With the help of educators and a willingness to try, Shari succeeded beyond all expectations, becoming an honor student, a teacher, and a nationally recognized speaker on the topic of at-risk youth and special education students.

Is it possible for a brain-damaged child with low IQ, Dyslexia, ADHD and many other issues to become an author and a public speaker? Shari Rusch Furnstahl proves that it is. Her story will keep you captivated from her years of frustration and failure through those of determination to achieve and be accepted to a successful career as an adult.

Shari writes with a very readable style that will charm you. I was drawn into her life, empathizing with her pain and rejoicing in her triumphs. I read a lot of books, and this is one I will not soon forget.

This is an amazing book because Shari's story does so many things. For the bright LD children, her story encourages them to be resilient and perservere. For the more challenged disabled child, her story gently gives encouragement and hope. For me, a parent of 3 LD children, her story was encouraging, enlightening and comforting. For all of us, it is a reminder that God loves us has a plan for each of us. I will recommend it to other parents, LD children and every teacher - special Ed or not!

This was actually a very interesting book ....made me have a lot of sympathy for the parents of this pretty amazing woman and much admiration for the obstacles she overcame.

I loved the narration of Shari's victory over such devastating odds. We also have a learning-impaired child and our story is much different. In light of our experiences, I found the second part rather difficult to identify with, a different tone and less loving stance.
