Michelle Douglas5 Stars Out Of 5August 13, 2007Michelle DouglasThis is a great record keeping book! I used it last year and will use it again this year. There is a page to record all of my home school information. My favorite part of the log book is the planning calendar. I fill it out before we start our school year. This allows me to have a written plan of my school schedule for the entire year. The kids love it so they can plan for breaks and/or other things that will be coming up. The next great feature is the actual daily record keeping boxes. They have plenty of room for recording what we accomplished for a day. Next to each box is several lines to record homework. I personally use this space to expand on some special project we may have completed on a particular day. There is also a place to record important phone numbers, goals for the year, web sites, field trips, prayer requests, memory verses, books read, curriculum used, and a whole section to track your child's daily food intake. This helps your child see exactly what they are eating in a day. Fun pages are also included for your child to fill in. For example, state information, what's happening in a year, about me section, and friend's autograph pages. I have found this record keeping book fits all of my needs and allows me to keep all of my information in one book. I would highly recommend this planner to anyone looking for an easy way to organize a year of home schooling.

Tell us a little about yourself. I am a homeschooling mother of 6 children, one just graduated High School homeschool this year 2006. I have been homeschooling 10 years and my husband and I reside in Shelbyville, TN with our 6 children. Over the past 10 years I have developed a burden to help other parents undertaking this same responsibility by creating products that make their life simpler and more organized. This is especially important when you have large families. The key to any homeschooling experience is God in the center and organization flowing from Him. Creating has become a great love of mine, and I have discovered it to be a much loved hobby.
What was your motivation behind this project? My motivation for this product was to produce what so many were requesting in hopes of helping homeschoolers life a little easier. The planner is 49 pages, so it is not overwhelming and is designed notebook style to be attractive to students of all ages.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? I have created this product as a direct result of what parents like you have been asking for, a planner that is simple enough for the student to log their own records, but complete enough to serve as a magnificent permanent record for the year. It is designed with the student in mind, but can be used by the teacher.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? My influences are you, the parents and my son, Austin. He is 9 years old and gave me loads of ideas that he would enjoy having in his own planner (and I was amazed to see the ideas he came up with.)
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: This planner is so perfect for any age child. If they can write they can use it. I tested this on my 7 year old daughter to see how she liked it and to see if she could successfully log in her assignments. She not only did well in recording them, but it encouraged her to want to work more, just so she could use the planner. I received a double blessing. This log book encourages journalling and also improves their writing skills as they log their information into specific areas in the book. It is packed with scripture correlating with the topic page on which it is located and tons of fun graphics that kids love. The planner contains all of the following: NUTRITION LOG (40 weeks) FACT SHEET ON NUTRITION & EXERCISE FOR CHILDREN WEATHER LOG (40 weeks) MEMORY VERSE LOG GOALS/HOBBIES/AWARDS/FIELD TRIPS/ACTIVITIES LOG PRAYER REQUEST LOG YEAR LONG PLANNING CALENDER (blank) IMPORTANT PHONE NUMBERS YOUR STATE FILL-IN INFORMATION PAGE WHAT'S HAPPENING FILL-IN FOR CURRENT YEAR PAGE BOOK REPORT LOG BOOK LIST LOG CURRICULUM LOG QUARTERLY & SEMESTER GRADE LOG FRIEND'S AUTOGRAPH PAGES 8 YEAR CALENDER DAILY LESSON PLANS & HOMEWORK LOG (40 weeks) I believe once you've tried this planner you will love it. My kids do.
