This book is a good read. Enlightening story in the first section to make you think about your body, its purpose and design. We really ought to take better care of our bodies and health and this book helps you to get started and stay motivated.
Walk Strong, Look Up is a book that approaches the discipline of exercise from two directions: the physical and, more importantly, the spiritual. Chantel Hobbs knows what it is like to be overweight and out of shape. Due to her own experience with conquering weight issues, she is sensitive and compassionate in her attempts to relate to and motivate those who are where she herself has been.
This book does exactly what the author set out to do: she gives the reader the knowledge and the tools to get into walking with the goal of fitness in mind; moreover, she encourages the Christian reader/would-be-exerciser to see their walking time as a time to be with the Lord in prayer and as a time to praise Him. For this I praise her.
Chantel inspires her readers with the story of her own success with losing weight and getting and staying fit. She also writes rather in depth about how to approach and plan one's own weight loss/exercise routine. She covers everything from recipes for power shakes to the best way to chose an exercise shoe.
This book is an encouraging, comfortable and comforting approach to health issues with many personal anecdotes thrown in. I do have some issues with it but, overall, I find it valuable. It is a book that many will benefit from.

So, what gets you through those tough runs or those long walks during your exercise time? What thoughts circle your head? For me, I use my run as a time to thank God for my health and His creation. When I focus on the parts of my body that are working overtime, I try to thank Him for allowing me the opportunity to run when some people are so sick that they can't even get out of bed. I use that time to simply thank Him for all I see while I run. If I'm burdened over someone or something, I also use that time to lift that up to Him, as well. If I'm running near the high school, I also remember to pray for my therapy clients and my children who will one day be at that age, as well as any kids I work with that I know are in school.
This book is combining exercise with God. Too often, we separate these when in all honesty, exercise provides the perfect time to spend with God in conversation with Him. Chantel Hobbs lays out a walking plan (for those who need somewhere to start), but also pairs it with things you are to meditate on each week. It's a month long process with each day spelled out for you. Packed in the pages are recipes, nutrition information and answers to some of the most asked questions.
Chantel Hobbs is a motivational speaker, a life coach, personal trainer, marathon runner, wife, and mother of four. She's been featured on many magazines, television shows, and radio programs. If you're looking for something to help change up your exercise routine, give it a try. If you're looking at getting into exercise and have no idea where to start, start with this book.

Looking for a way to get you motivated to get moving? Walk Strong, Look up by Chantel Hobbs may just be the book for you. I have tried in the past to get moving and walk every night... but many times I have failed at my efforts. In this book, Chantel gives you step by step instructions on those little things that can help get you motivated. At the end of each chapter, she has what I would call a heart to heart section... with questions for you to answer and think about. One thing she states in her book, is "don't walk along...bring HIM with you". Bring Jesus with you on your walk... make it not only a time of exercise but a time to pray and meditate on the Lord. She also give great advice on buying the right type of walking shoes. She has great recipes for shakes and meals in the book as well.
This book has great practical way to help you get moving... one thing I really liked was the walking routine she mentions... a week by week routine to get you started and not burned out!
