The earlier edition was a tremendous blessing when I was in college, about 50 years ago. Now, my 22 yr old son uses "Streams in the Desert." It is still practical and we have given a couple of dozen as gifts to others.

For me Streams in the Desert are exactely that. Next to my Bible, this is my favorite devotional, along with Springs in the Valley.
This devotional is timeless and very relevant in today's world. It's truth and encouragement, in difficult times, is truely food for the weary, hungry, and broken soul. All the while encouraging us to go on. It has helped me through many a difficult time, and continues to do so. It has helped my spiritual growth and understanding, beyond measure. During times when nothing makes sense, it pionts me to a loving, nuturing and caring Heavenly Father, Who is closer than we think, in times of pain and hardship. The awsome, touching and heartfelt poems are incredible, and speak life to my circumstances. It is truly Spritfilled, and Spirit- led. May God bless this wonderful woman, who has made such an impact in my life. It would have been such an honour to have met her. My thanks also to James Reimann for his amazing contribution in updating this timeless treasure!!!

This has been my favorite devotional since I first read it a few years ago. It has given me such great encouragement and insights into God's Word. I marked it up and underlined many passages and go back and read parts often. I've used many portions of it to encourage others as they have gone through desolate times of life. It's a great source of strength and reminder of how God can use our pain/sorrow to build up His people. I have given dozens of these as gifts.

This is one of my favorite devotionals....I have given so many to friends or to those I know will know be as encouraged by it as I have been, every time I read it.
If life is overwhelming, if you are anxious, concerned about a loved one, or events in your life, read this devotional. It puts everything in the correct perspective, reminding you that God is sovereign, that nothing happens in your life that He has not allowed and that He will use it, He will work it for your good, and that He is conforming you into the image of His Son.
I am always encouraged, always blessed from reading this.

I love this book. It's just a little something to get my day going. I have been through my "Utmost for His Highest", a couple of times & I was looking for something new, & to my pleasant surprise it was edited/updated by James Reimann.

This devotional was given to me when I was going through some very difficult times. It was such an uplifting book and an encouragement to keep my eyes focused on Our Precious Lord who understands all that we are going through. It was given to me by a dear friend who had been comforted by it during her trying times. My Mother also spent many hours reading this devotional as well. I have recommended this book to family membars and friends. The updated version was even more enjoyable to read and I will continue to read this devotional for the remaining years of my life here.
