I was on vacation and met up with a friend that collects old books. He took me into his warehouse and said to pick out what I wanted as a gift. I saw this book and was just drawn to it.
I started reading it on the plane on the way home. WHAT A BLESSING! If you want hope, read this book. If you want to believe, read this book.
It's just tremendous. I hope I get a chance to meet Mrs. Cowman in heaven someday.

Since I grew up reading the King James version of the Bible this edition is wonderful for me. It gives an insight to the scriptures that applies to our daily joys, troubles and weariness. I believe the NIV version might be an easier read for younger Christians.

I am huge on only reading the bible and nothing else. I think all that you will ever need is in the book that God wrote, but with that said, my pastors wife gave me a copy of Streams in the Desert (written in 1925) and I started reading it the day I got it and I really miss what God has to say if I don't read it everyday (along with my bible). I have bought 14 copies of this book for people instead of flowers or cards when they are sick, dying or going through a hard time and it has helped so many of my friends. If you are hurting or know someone who is buy this book, it will really guide you and comfort you with God's word.

This book is the best daily devotional I have ever read. It was given to me by my Pastor who was counseling me for some hard times I was and am still going through. This book has allowed me to remember Bible verses and given me hope and encouragement. The writings are truly inspirational. I highly recommend this daily devotional for everyone.

I can't say enough about the impact this devotional book has made on my life, my outlook, and my walk with the Lord. A friend gave us a copy of this book when my husband was diagnosed with leukemia six years ago. I read it cover to cover three times without stopping. Every page helped me to see that battle from a new perspective and helped me to face it with courage and hope. My husband died 17 months later, and Streams remains a constant companion for me now. I have recommended it to everyone I know and given many copies to others who are walking through their own valley. Its message is timeless and applies to the trials of life, both big and small ones.
