That is what The Story is all about—the story of the Bible, God’s great love affair with humanity.
Condensed into 31 accessible chapters, The Story sweeps you into the unfolding progression of Bible characters and events from Genesis to Revelation. Using the clear, accessible text of the NIV Bible, it allows the stories, poems, and teachings of the Bible to read like a novel.
And like any good story, The Story is filled with intrigue, drama, conflict, romance, and redemption—and this story’s true! From the foreword by Max Lucado and Randy Frazee:
"This book tells the grandest, most compelling story of all time: the story of a true God who loves his children, who established for them a way of salvation and provided a route to eternity. Each story in these 31 chapters reveals the God of grace—the God who speaks; the God who acts; the God who listens; the God whose love for his people culminated in his sacrifice of Jesus, his only Son, to atone for the sins of humanity."

He foreshadowed the fact that he was going to be broken and poured outhe was going to take humanitys punishment for sin on himself. While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, Take and eat; this is my body. Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. I tell you, I will not drink from this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in my Fathers kingdom. Jesus warned his disciples that he would be with them only a little while longer. He went on to comfort his confused followers. Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Fathers house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going. Thomas said to him, Lord, we dont know where you are going, so how can we know the way? Jesus answered, I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.

RickF5 Stars Out Of 5The Story, NiVJanuary 17, 2015RickFQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Easier to read than the normal 66 book Bible, smooth time flow from before Christ to after Christ's birth, etc.
I recommend for anyone wanting to learn more about Christianity, but struggles with following the normal Bible.
jerry5 Stars Out Of 5The StoryJanuary 2, 2015jerryQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I lead a sunday study group along with the DVD. This is a great book to give away for people who would like to read the Bible but for whatever reason have a hard time completeing it. It turly is the scripture taken word for word from the NIV translation, put in chornological order with no chapter or scripture numbers and narratives to make the transition from one story to the other. I HIGHLY recomend this book. When on sale i purchase as many as I can at the time and give away as the spirit leads. thank you for the very reasonable sale pricing.
Lemondrop685 Stars Out Of 5The StoryDecember 30, 2014Lemondrop68It is such an easy read for people who don't read the Bible. It's true to the Bible even though written in easier form. I gave it to the men in our family who aren't Christians yet. Hoping that our daughters and granddaughter who are Christian will also read it. Thank you for pricing it at an amount that I could afford.
Q: Age group for "The Story" I have a childrens ministry ages 3-12. Would this be an appropriate gift for the children old enough to read?
This edition would work for older Elementary age children to Adult. For an edition of this Bible geared specifically for kids see WW719755, The Story for Kids.
Q: Are the events in this book in chronological order or in books of the Bible order?
The Story presents selected passages from the NIV in Chronological order.
Q: Can I look up a specific scripture reference in The Story? My homeschooled 9th grader is using a curriculum which requires extensive scripture reading. I think The Story would be helpful. My only question is this...if he is assigned to read Proverbs1-20, is there an index that would help him know what pages to read in The Story? Thank you for any experience and help you can offer.
No, there are no chapter/verse references in the text of "The Story". There is a Chart of References in the back noting which selections of the Bible are used for each chapter of the book.
Q: We give Bibles to people that we don't always know personally. Would this be appropriate for a teenager that may not have a Christian background?
This would be easier reading for a young person not familiar with the Bible.
Q: What is the difference between this and the other edition? What is the difference (in content) between this and "The Story: Read the Bible as One Seamless Story from Beginning to End" (CBD Stock No: WW936985 / ISBN: 0310936985)?
This version utilizes the NIV's 2011 update which brings the language more in line with today's vocabulary.
Q: What kind of binding is on the hardcover edition, is it sewn or glued?
This is a glued binding.
Q: Which version of the NIV is used in this study?
This uses the 2011 edition of the NIV.
